For You – My Simple Card from Founder’s Circle

As I shared earlier this week, we received quite a few giveaways during our stay at Founder’s Circle – we won papers and ribbons and fun embellishments.  We were also given a stamp set from the Occasions Catalog (Birthday Blooms) and an upcoming pack of Designer Series Paper (Birthday Bouquet).  Even with limited supplies to play with (only the giveaway items and the products that were set aside for our Founders Circle make-and-takes), I wanted to create new projects.  So, that’s what I did.  Here’s a card I made:

Birthday Blooms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sneak Peek.  We received these two sneak peek items at Founder’s Circle – while I love to create something fun with these new items, you won’t see too much of them anytime soon.  I will pull them back out as we get closer to the release of that catalog.  There’s still so much awesome in the Holiday Catalog and Annual Catalog that I’ll never get through – so I want to stay focused on that.  Here’s a peak at the beautiful images and sentiments in this set and this paper (I snagged this photo from Linda Heller):

  • Simple Layout.  Because I was limited by supply choices, I kept the design of this project pretty simple, too.  I built the card front on a base of Mint Macaron, using a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Thick Whisper White.  I cropped a piece of Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper at 2-1/2″ x 4-7/8″ and glued it down on the left side of the Thick Whisper White, leaving a consistent band of white around the top, bottom and left side.  I covered the right edge of the Designer Series Paper with a 1/4″ strip of Mint Macaroon and topped that with three wraps of Whisper White Baker’s Twine.   A quick squint test shows me that the whole card is balance.  Yay!
  • Angled Tag.  To add a little extra interest to this project, I decided to crop out my tags from the Tags & Labels Framelits at an angle.  I stamped “for you” from Birthday Blooms and then lined up the framelits to crop at an angle.   I snipped the balloon from another piece of this paper (and the bow is from a different balloon in the paper).  I positioned the tag on the cardfront such that the words were straight with the card base – they aren’t angled with the tag.  This alignment added a peacefulness to the slanted tag.
