You’ll be Missed for GDP005

I’ve had so much fun with The Global Design Project.  I had no idea what to expect when the team of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators launched this design challenge last month, but it’s been a great experience.  There’s something very special about how many people from all over the world are excited by the challenges and playing along – what an amazing amount of talent out there!

This week The Global Design Project is hosting a color challenge – such a sweet combination of colors with Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.  How can you go wrong with these colors?  Here’s my card:

Wild About Flowers, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP005

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP-005Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Wild About Flowers.  I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not particularly wild about flowers – my designs aren’t particularly floral in nature.  I do, though, love how easy it is to create big, beautiful projects with Wild About Flowers, a photopolymer stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.  With three distinctly different stems and coordinating flower petals for each, you can create all sorts of combinations.  Pay attention, too, to the sentiments in this stamp set – they are really beautiful and wonderful.  I was so happy to ink up this stamp set for this challenge.

  • Subtle Texture.  When my card was all laid out, I was happy with all the components.  At the time, though, the Soft Sky panel in the background was untouched.  Just before I glued it all down, I decided my card needed a little texture.  I didn’t want to texture-emboss the panel, so I reached for the ever-versatile Gorgeous Grunge to add a bit of interest to that piece.  With Soft Sky ink, I quickly stamped the largest water-spot stamp all over the paper.  It added a nice bit of texture to the soft and sweet project.
  • Striped Band.  Do you recognize the Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White striped paper that runs across the back of this floral panel and sentiment?  If you guessed it’s from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, then you are wrong.  Good guess, but wrong.  The striped paper is a piece from Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper seen below.  The pattern of watercolored stripes run at a diagonal in the paper.  As you know, though, I like to cut into paper to change its direction – if it’s printed at a diagonal, then I will showcase it in straight stripes.  🙂

  9. Just an absolutely gorgeous card this morning Brian! Not only gorgeous but the design is so versatile……….I can see this card being used for just about any vacation. I love the fact that on this set the stems are separate from the blooms making it oh so easy to use multiple colors without having to individually color parts of the stamp with a marker. Fabulous.
