Cozy Christmas & Joyful Season

I love the snowy home in Cozy Christmas and the beautiful sentiments in Joyful Season.  As I sat down to make a card to share with you today, I thought, “Why not combine the two?”  With image and sentiment in place, I reached for the Home For Christmas Designer Series Paper and my Archival Basic Black Ink.  Here’s the simple card I made:

  • A Cozy Season.  Cozy Christmas and Joyful Season are two stamp sets with a variety of sentiments and images.  While the Christmas themes are evident, these are flexible to be used throughout the winter season.  I love the font used in the Joyful Season stamp set – so beautiful.  The words aren’t so shabby either.  🙂  How wonderfully these two stamp sets pair with the ever-popular Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper!  You can click on either of these images to see the items in my online store:

  • Smart Snipping.  When I stamped the house onto the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper, I was left with a blue, speckled roof.  Not what I wanted, so I stamped the house on Whisper White.  I was not excited about snipping around all the white snow hanging from the eves of the house.  I stared at it for a while before realizing (DUH!) that I could just snip out the whole house – clean and easy edges.  EUREKA!  The white really helps the house to pop against the Mint Macaron backdrop.Cozy Christmas, Joyful Season, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Blocking.  The border of Basic Black on the base of this card is designed to coordinate with the width of the Basic Black border created with the Ovals Framelits.  As such, the 3-3/4″ x 5″ front panel was defined for me, so I cropped a piece of Mint Macaron as my base panel.  I added a 3-3/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla (which coordinates with the speckles in the Designer Series Paper) and a 1/2″ strip of Whisper White (right at the place where the house sits in the oval).  I really like the combination of the Very Vanilla and Whisper White.
