Wicked Awesome!

I was sitting with my friend and team member, Shawn deOliveira, at Stampin’ Up!’s Convention in July when we were first able to flip through the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  What fun!  Shawn lives south of Boston, Massachusetts, and one of the first stamp sets he zeroed in on is the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 stamp set that features the word “wicked” with other seasonal phrases.  “That’s wicked fun!” he said (almost instinctively but with defined purpose), “I’ll be using this sentiment a lot.”  I reached for this Halloween sentiment to make this non-Halloween card:

Big News, Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015, Stampin' Up!, Brian King“Wicked” is pulled from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 stamp set, while “Awesome” is isolated from a stamp in the Big News stamp set.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015.  Although this stamp set is designed for Project Lifers, it’s a perfect set for card makers, too.  What a wonderful variety of images in this photopolymer stamp set!  While many are season-specific, most can be used all year long.  If you are documenting life’s moments in Project Life, you’ll want these after the holidays.  If you are a card maker, you want them now.

  • Bonus heart!  I left lots of white space on the panel surrounding the words so that they would be the front-and-center focal point of this card.  Once I had the words stamped on the front of this card, though, I needed a little something to fill the void in the top, right of the sentiment.  There was a gap.  I grabbed a heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy sticker and stuck it to the edge of a piece of Watermelon Wonder.  In a test run, I found that I could still maneuver the punch over the epoxy sticker to punch it out (an exact fit).  Sure beats trying to get the sticker to exactly fit over a piece of punched paper.  BONUS!  The heart fills the space perfectly.
  • Bright and Cheery.  The printed papers in the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack are so bright and cheery.  The primary colors in my card, Bermuda Bay and Watermelon Wonder, are pulled right from this incredible paper stack.  If you like them as much as I do, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 8. So many times customers look over the stamps in project life thinking they are only for that purpose. I love these stamps. They are always so versatile! Great job Brian, simple, quick and whimsical yet wickedly elegant!! I could see this given for Valentine’s Day as well as any special occasion.

  9. lol, Brian, the second I saw your card I’m like Southerners don’t use that expression where on earth did he pick it up from 🙂 I read on and I’m like I knew he had to be around a New Englander somewhere 🙂 I live in New Hampshire, approx 35-40 minutes from Boston and of course wicked must never be used as a singular expression. #We do have our own dialect up here I’ll admit. I will definetly own the two stamps that include those two words. To all the New England stampin up family don’t you think this is wicked pissah? (highest form of flattery)

  10. Beautiful card Brian

  11. I love the fun, fun sentiment and the beautiful DSP with those sweet and tiny hearts. The epoxy red heart just completes this card perfectly.
