I was sitting with my friend and team member, Shawn deOliveira, at Stampin’ Up!’s Convention in July when we were first able to flip through the 2015 Holiday Catalog. What fun! Shawn lives south of Boston, Massachusetts, and one of the first stamp sets he zeroed in on is the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 stamp set that features the word “wicked” with other seasonal phrases. “That’s wicked fun!” he said (almost instinctively but with defined purpose), “I’ll be using this sentiment a lot.” I reached for this Halloween sentiment to make this non-Halloween card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015. Although this stamp set is designed for Project Lifers, it’s a perfect set for card makers, too. What a wonderful variety of images in this photopolymer stamp set! While many are season-specific, most can be used all year long. If you are documenting life’s moments in Project Life, you’ll want these after the holidays. If you are a card maker, you want them now.
- Bonus heart! I left lots of white space on the panel surrounding the words so that they would be the front-and-center focal point of this card. Once I had the words stamped on the front of this card, though, I needed a little something to fill the void in the top, right of the sentiment. There was a gap. I grabbed a heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy sticker and stuck it to the edge of a piece of Watermelon Wonder. In a test run, I found that I could still maneuver the punch over the epoxy sticker to punch it out (an exact fit). Sure beats trying to get the sticker to exactly fit over a piece of punched paper. BONUS! The heart fills the space perfectly.
- Bright and Cheery. The printed papers in the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack are so bright and cheery. The primary colors in my card, Bermuda Bay and Watermelon Wonder, are pulled right from this incredible paper stack. If you like them as much as I do, feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: Big News, Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 Papers: Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White Inks: Bermuda Bay, Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Marker (Watermelon Wonder) Accessories: Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, Itty Bitty Accents punches (heart), Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
