High Five for GDP008

This week’s Global Design Project challenge encourages us to CASE (Copy and Share Everything) a design by the uber-talented Kylie Bertucci, a Design Team Member for the Global Design Project.  Kylie is a good friend of mine, so this was particularly fun for me.  The inspiration can be found in the layout, the colors, the sentiment, the images.  What a great way to share our work while honoring someone else!  Here’s my Design Team Member card for this week’s challenge:

That Think You Did, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP008And here’s Kylie’s project that that inspired my card:

GDP-008Other than its massive beauty, here are the things that most inspired me about Kylie’s card:

  • The Large Circle.  I just love the big, bold circle that showcases the image and sentiment on Kylie’s card.  As such, I showcased my image on a big, bold circle as well.  I stamped my sentiment from That Thing You Did on Thick Whisper White and then cropped it with one of the larger Circles Collection Framelits.  I’ll share more about how I stamped the image in tomorrow’s post – with a new video.
  • The Textured, Neutral Backdrop.  I love how Kylie used the Writing Notes background stamp to create a lovely striped texture in the Tip Top Taupe backdrop for this card.  I, too, created a Tip Top Taupe backdrop but used the striped pattern from Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack to create a bold panel along the right hand side of my card.

  • The Cherry Cobbler Banner.  I love the bold, Cherry Cobbler banner that Kylie created on the front of her card.  I knew I wanted to add the secondary sentiment that coordinates with “High Five” – what better way to add it than to heat emboss it with White Stamping’ Emboss Powder?  I cropped one side of the banner with the edge of my Hexagon punch.  Too see how I did that, watch my video here.
  • The Color Scheme.  Don’t you love this color combination – mostly Tip Top Taupe and Cherry Cobbler with a little bit of Crushed Curry thrown in for good measure?  If you like this combination, please feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Cherry Cobbler, Tip Top Taupe, Crushed Curry

Stamp Sets:  That Thing You Did  Papers:  Cherry Cobbler, Tip Top Taupe, Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, Thick Whisper White  Inks:  Tip Top Taupe, Cherry Cobbler, Stampin’ Write Maker (Crushed Curry)  Accessories:  White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Circles Collection Framelits, Hexagon punch (for banner tip), Stampin’ Dimensionals
