I shared a really fun card with you yesterday, a project for the Global Design Project that was inspired by a Kylie Bertucci card. In case you missed it, you can read more about that project here. Here’s the project I shared:
Yesterday, I talked about the layout and color choices for this card. Today, I am focusing my discussion on the stamped image in the center of the big, white circle.
I love that I can use Stampin’ Write Markers to easily paint multiple colors on red rubber stamps, the type of material used to make the stamps see as wood mount and clear mount. Ink them up, give them a huff and stamp them down. Photopolymer stamps don’t take ink from markers the same way, so they are much harder to paint. As such, I couldn’t just apply ink with three markers to create the focal image for this project.
Here’s a video I filmed to show you the somewhat unique way I stamped up this incredibly fun image:
Stamp Sets: That Thing You Did Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Tip Top Taupe, Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, Thick Whisper White Inks: Tip Top Taupe, Cherry Cobbler, Stampin’ Write Maker (Crushed Curry) Accessories: White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Circles Collection Framelits, Hexagon punch (for banner tip), Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for the great tips Brian!
excellent video. i don’t have Stampin’ Spots. do you think sponge daubers would work?
Good point. I bet the daubers would work well – you just have to get them good and juicy in the ink. Thanks, Mary.
Thanks for the video, Brian. Good job!
So helpful. Love the video
A big High Five for the video! Another good reason to get the Paper Pumpkin kits – for the Stampin Spots! Cute card by the way! I forgot about the blender pen for removing the ink – I was trying to use a piece of paper towel one time without great success.
You are so clever Brian King. You not only demonstrated how to get multiple colors on a photopolymer stamp, but an additional use for the Stampin’ Spots we get with our Paper Pumpkin kits.
Hi Brian:
I’m back at home with a LOT of blog catching up to do. It was so nice to have you “visit me” my first day back. You always have the most helpful tips. I missed your blog while I was away so I”m also recovering from my Brian withdrawal LOL. The Hubs says “how did you make it so long without Brian’s Blog?” I don’t know but I’m glad I survived.
Great tips Brian! If I think I plan to color an image with markers I’ll opt for a rubber stamp set if it is available for that very reason. Great to have these tips in my arsenal for those only available in photopolymer. Thanks for sharing!
Your card is soooo cool! It´s a really male card. I am asking myself, if this stampset is offered in our annual cataloge??
Hugs Tanja
Deine Karte ist sooo coool! Das ist wirklich eine richtige Männerkarte. Ich frage mich gerade, ob dieses Stempelset aus unserem aktuellen Hauptkatalog ist..
LG Tanja
