Stampin’ Up!’s Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit: Part 2

Yesterday I shared some information about one of my all-time favorite project kits – Stampin’ Up!’s Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit.  If you missed that post, please check it out here.  I really enjoyed putting together these tags and think they’ll be a wonderful addition to my Christmas gift-giving.  They’d even make quite a display on a small Christmas tree.  Or three kits could fill up a large Christmas tree – maybe I need to get busy on another couple of kits?  🙂

Here’s a peek at what you get with the Oh What Fun Project Kit:

The kit coordinates with this stamp set (not included with the kit):

And here’s what you have when you are done – you end up with THREE of each of these tags.  That’s a total of 30 tags!

Yesterday  I shared that the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit received the official Mary King seal of approval – that’s a pretty big deal.  I shared pictures of my niece and nephews as they assembled the tags with Mom over the weekend.  I also shared the nightmare of my craft table as I assembled this super-fun kit.

Today, I’m sharing some pictures from my Tag class with one of my local stamp groups and some tips for hosting a similar event with a large number of people – it really worked well for my group and me.

Here are some pictures of the stamp group – hard at work (you can see the progression of “mess” in the middle of the table as the class progressed):

TIPS FOR AN EFFECTIVE TAGS GATHERING (for customers or Demonstrators)  Whether you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator who is hosting customers to assemble this kit or a customer who wants to get together with some friends to make these awesome tags, here are some tips to make your gathering easier.

Keep the tag samples and stamps organized.  Do you see the blue bins on the table?  I picked up twelve of them for $4 at the Dollar Store, and I assigned one completed tag to each bin.  Inside the bin, I included a clear block with the corresponding stamp image:

Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit, Stampin' Up!, Tips for Organizing an Event Label the stamps with the corresponding color.  I added a 3/4″ Circle to the top, right of each block to indicate the color the coordinated with each stamp (Real Red, Garden Green and Mint Macaron).  The colors were included on the finished tag that accompanied each bin, but the dot was a reinforcement.Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit, Stampin' Up!, Tips for Organizing an Event

Establish an order of events.  Since I only had one stamp set for the event and one bottle of each of the specialty glues, I needed to make the most of the time I had with them.  As such, I laid out some guidelines.  Here’s the order of events for my class:

  • STEP ONE:  punch out all the pieces.
  • STEP TWO:  stamp all pieces that need to be stamped (including the to/from on the back).
  • STEP THREE:  glue down all the pieces that require specialty glues.
  • STEP FOUR:  assemble as time permits.  They can finish assembling at home.

I kept the bins on the kitchen bar, away from the table where everyone was working.  As each person completed the three tags of a single design, I pulled away the bin and gave them another from the kitchen bar.  We managed to work our way through each until all the kits were stamped.

Know the other products you may need.  Here are the items that are recommended for this project that aren’t included in the kit:

  • Oh, What Fun Stamp Set
  • Mint Macaron Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Fast Fuse Adhesive
  • Crystal Effects
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • 2-Way Glue Pen

I used Crystal Effects to adhere the glittery snowflake to its tag and to add the “ho ho ho” banner on top of the snowflake.  I also used Crystal Effects to attach the gold, mesh bows.  I used the Fine-Tip Glue pen to add spots of adhesive for the sequins on the “wishing you a sweet season” tag and used SNAIL or Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue for almost everything else.  When a tag required gluing on top of a strip of glimmer paper, I got creative with the placement of my Stampin’ Dimensionals to make sure they were placed on the paper underneath the glimmer paper.

Thanks for stopping by today!
