Halloween BOO!

Is it really October 31?!?  Where did the rest of the year go?  Happy Halloween!  🙂  Today I’m sharing a fun, festive card that uses several set from this year’s Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  While two of these sets are almost exclusive to Halloween, the third set will be used for several more projects this year.  Here’s my card:

Howl-o-ween Treat, Witches' Night, Happy Scenes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Halloween card

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Creating a Scene.  There’s a special feeling when you combine a few shapes into a balanced collection of images that look good together and tell a little story.  With three stamped images (a black hat, black bats on a yellow moon and a simple “boo”) this card sets the scene for a cheery, nighttime spookfest.  No ghouls, no ghosts.  Just a few bats flying by.  I’ve never been good at the “collage” style of stamping, but I can handle three things.  🙂
  • Three Stamp Sets.  So, did you already know the three stamp sets I used to create this card?  They are Howl-o-ween Treat (the fun wizard hat), Witches’ Night (the spooky bats) and Happy Scenes (the simple, fun sentiment at the base of the card).  The accompanying sentiment (“Wishing you a Happy Halloween”) is included on the inside of the card.  All of these stamp sets can be viewed in the My Stampin’ Blog links below.
  • Color Combination.  This card uses a variety of beautiful colors to tell its story.  The base of the card is Blackberry Bliss, and the focal panel is Whisper White.  A thin layer of Tangelo Twist envelopes the white panel.  The yellow moon and Black Hat round out the other colors.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
