Ho Ho Ho for PPA276

As soon as I saw this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch, I knew what sentiment I’d be using, but I wasn’t 100% sure where that sentiment would take me.  The sketch calls for three circles (or shapes) – and I thought it would be a perfect way for me to use the “ho ho ho” stamp from the Oh, What Fun stamp set.  Since there’s a Christmas themed challenge over at the Global Design Project, I’m submitting this card, there, too.  Here’s my sweet and simple card with this week’s sketch:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stamp along the edge.  I love that I can see exactly where I am positioning my photopolymer stamps on a card when I stamp them down, but the see-through stamps are also easier to ink up when I only want to ink up a portion of the stamp.  Because I wanted to crop each “ho” I needed to stamp them separately.  How easy it was to just get one “ho” inked up on the side of the VersaMark ink pad!
  • Lining up Three.  Three circles aren’t as easy to line up as you might think.  Not only do the circles need to be lined up along the edges of the circles, but they must be uniformly spaced apart.  I offered a tip with Candy Dots some time ago, and I share it with you today – because I used it for positioning these circles.  When aligning three items, adhere the first and third object (the top and bottom) first.  Then, position the middle one.  That gives you the perspective you need to center it perfectly.
  • Add a Santa.  When a card needs a little something extra, just add a Santa.  Maybe the won’t work in all circumstances, but it worked for me.  🙂  My original card was going to be uber-simple – a panel of striped paper with Ho Ho Ho.  The end.  It was all set up, but I kept coming back to the card.  What else did I need?  Santa was an obvious fit for this sentiment, so I snipped him from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper.  Cute, huh?
