Let it Snow for CYCI96 and GDP012

I had a very productive weekend – I had all my projects planned for the week, but then I laid my eyes on this week’s sketch for Can You Case It? Challenge.  I loved the simplicity of Eva’s sketch so much that I immediately started planning a sweet and simple card – I just couldn’t help myself.  My project also corresponds with this week’s Global Design Project challenge, so I’m sharing it there, too (it’s my week to provide inspiration, and I’ve loved seeing what everyone is creating).

Here’s my card:Snow Place, Perpetual Calendar, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CYCI96, GDP012

And here are the banners for the challenges that inspired my card:

GDP-012Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Snowflakes.  Not only does today’s card include the “let it snow” sentiment from the Snow Place stamp set, but I’ve created a sweet pattern of snowflakes around the words.   The snowflakes from Snow Place were larger than I wanted, so I scanned all my Christmas-themed sets.  The perfect snowflakes weren’t in a Christmas-themed set at all.  Do you recognize them?  Look closely!  They are from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set – such a versatile set (even if you don’t want to complete the coordinating calendar project).  I also used this stamp set for my Founder’s Circle swaps – you can see that project here.Snow Place, Perpetual Calendar, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CYCI96, GDP012
  • A Little Added texture.  Every card needs a little depth or texture.  Once all the images were stamped and the layers were assembled, the card still needed a little something extra.  I knew a couple of teeny-tiny Pearl Basic Jewels would give this card the added bling and smooth texture it needed.  The pearls don’t really pop against the Soft Sky, but they are noticeable and sweetly perfect.
  • Color Combination.  This is the second time I’ve recently used this combination of Basic Black, Soft Sky and Whisper White – if you want to see the other project, you can see it here.  The black just pops against the soft blue, and the white is as crisp and bright as can be.  If you, too, like this color combination, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! I hope you’ll pop over to the Can You Case It challenge site and the Global Design Project challenge site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
