A Batch of Thank You Cards for Rachel

Last week, my friend Rachel asked if I could make her some thank you cards for a birthday party her husband recently threw for her.  I had a lot on my plate, but I couldn’t say no.  How could I send her to someone else for the cards of her dreams?  🙂  I was honored to make these cards that she could share with her friends and family who came to her special party.  The only design request she gave was that she wanted “purple and black cards to match her party theme.”  She also wanted half of them to be “formal” and half of them to be “casual.”  Before I had officially agreed to make them, I knew what I’d be making.  Here are the cards I created:

The Casual One

Another Thank You, Into the Woods Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

The Formal One

A Whole Lot of Lovely, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • The Casual One.  I used Rich Razzleberry for Rachel’s casual thank you cards.  It has that bright, playful feel and paired perfectly with this fun pattern from Into the Woods Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment from Another Thank You was a bold, fun image and easy to add to the top panel of this card.  I used a layout that I had used several times before – and I’ve loved it every time.  You can see the flexibility of this layout here and here.
  • The Formal One.  Blackberry Bliss has a much more sophisticated look to it, so I chose that for Rachel’s formal thank you cards.  I used the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Series Paper  Stack to create a backdrop for this stamp from A Whole Lot of Lovely (a Host set in the Annual Catalog).  The detail of this card is found in the layering – you know I can’t pass up on some good layers, and seven seemed like a good number to me.
  • All Together Now.  When I make a bunch of cards, you already know I like to capture an “infinity shot” of them – just makes me feel happy to see them all together.  Before I bundled them up to mail them to Rachel, I laid them out and grabbed a quick shot.  I loved seeing these purples together.Another Thank You, A Whole Lot of Lovely, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
