2016 Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek Blog Hop

Occasions Catalog Blog HopStampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog goes live for customers in January 2016 – and this catalog is FILLED TO THE BRIM with amazing stamp sets, accessories and tools.  So that we can excite you with all of the amazing products in this upcoming catalog, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are able to order from the catalog early.  Yippee!  Along with friends of mine from all over the world, I’m excited to share some of the new products today in a 2016 Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek Blog Hop.  What fun!  You may be starting the hop here – or you may have popped over from the second stop on the hop, my awesome Australian friend, Kylie Bertucci at Crafty Kylie.  However you arrived here, I’m glad you are here!  After you finish reading my post, please hop along to the next blog so that you can see all the new goodies and amazing projects by these talented folks.

My project showcases two new items from the Birthday Bouquet suite of products:  Birthday Blossoms stamp set and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  I received these two items at Founder’s Circle this summer (an incredible event to celebrate Stampin’ Up!’s Top Demonstrators in the U.S. and Canada).  I mixed soft, sweet colors with a bold, graphic layout.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sneak Peek at Birthday Blooms and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  The Occasions Catalog’s Birthday Bouquet Suite offers soft colors and floral images – perfect accents for birthdays or just the celebration of friendship.  Honeycomb embellishments, glitter ribbon and bow tie paper clips accompany this stamp set and Designer Series Paper to make this suite of products a special addition to your collection of stamping supplies.  The colors in this paper are sugary sweet – like your favorite sherbet – and the sentiments are must-haves.  Here’s a closer view of the stamp set and Designer Series Paper:Birthday Blossoms stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingBirthday Blooms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Altering the Flower.  I don’t make a lot of floral cards, and I’m envious of those who can arrange flowers beautifully on a page – I don’t possess that skill.  As I played with this stamp set, I just couldn’t make the bouquet of flowers work for me.  I was certain that the big flower in the center of this image was throwing me off, so I tried and tried to hide it.  Once I decided to embrace the large flower and to make it my focal point, I knew I needed to give it more support from underneath.  I simply created a “nest” of leaves from the set.  I think the flower looks more “clean and simple” without all that beautiful clutter around it.  🙂Birthday Blooms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Combination.  Blushing Bride naturally pairs so well with browns (this gorgeous shade of pink has so much brown in it) – it’s beautifully accented with Soft Suede in this Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  While designing this card, though, I found that Basic Gray offers a wonderful accent to Blushing Bride when also paired with Mint Macaron.  It balances out all the sweetness, don’t you think?  Basic Gray is not a part of the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series, but it certainly works here.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
