Birthday Blooms for an InKing Royalty Card Swap

My upline, Pam Morris, is hosting an event for our local Stampin’ Up! team today.  She’s planned some super-fun project for us, and we’ll get to see some of the new products from the upcoming Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-Bration.  Who doesn’t love that?!  As you may already know, I only have one stamp set and one Designer Series Paper – Birthday Blossoms and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper – from the new catalog (although lots of new things are on their way to me now).  For the time being, I’m making the best with what I’ve got.  Here’s my swap card for today’s team gathering:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Big Flower.  As I said in my Occasions Catalog Blog Hop entry from earlier this week (you can see it here), this flower is gorgeous, but it bothers me.  Maybe that’s why I’m so challenged to use it in a way that I love.  For this card, I inked the image with Blushing Bride, stamped it off once on a piece of scrap paper and then stamped it onto the Blushing Bride cardstock.  That gave me the effect of a background pattern on my pink panel.  You can tell it’s the flower, but it’s gentle and soft.  I stamped the GORGEOUS sentiment in Mossy Meadow on top of it, further solidifying the flower’s position as a gorgeous background image.  🙂Birthday Blossoms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • My Slant on the Matter.  This project includes several clean panels that are decorated with slanted pieces of cardstock and Designer Series Paper.  Not only did this allow me to create an interesting look to the front of my card, but it allowed me to fill space on the card front with very little paper (I had to make a lot of these, so I needed to be frugal with the little bit of Designer Series Paper I have).  The 3/4″ strips of Designer Series Paper didn’t eat away at my stash too badly.  The pearls added a needed texture and balance.
  • Infinity Shot.  If I make more than 10 of a card, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to take an “infinity shot” of my projects before I send them off or hand them out.  (do people in this century say “bet your bottom dollar?”)  I didn’t want to disappoint you today, I placed them side-by-side on my table and grabbed a couple of quick pictures:Birthday Blossoms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingBirthday Blossoms, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  14. Dear Brian: I don’t know what happened or how but all of your blog posts, plus several others that I’m subscribed to, landed on the spam folder, the last blog post I received from you was on November 23rd. after that, there was nothing.
I thought you were sick or taking a break from blogging.
All I will say is that I missed your blog posts so much and I’m glad I found what the problem was and immediately fix it!!!
