Time To Celebrate for GDP015

The Global Design Project is hosting a super-fun theme challenge this week – CELEBRATE.  There are so many ways reasons to celebrate – birthdays, holidays, individual successes – and so many ways to celebrate – cards, parties and cake.  Today’s card showcases some wonderful, new Designer Series Papers, a new stamp set and a new punch from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog –  together, they make for a perfect celebration.  Here’s my card:

Party with Cake, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP015

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP-015

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Fun Sentiment.  This sentiment is two-thirds of a great sentiment from Party with Cake, a new stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog.  While the full sentiment states “It’s Time to Celebrate with Cake,” I thought it would be perfectly fun to stick with the first two lines.  I stamped the sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink and colored in the open letters with a Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker.  The word “celebrate” is already solid.  I stamped it right on the beautiful, confetti-like paper from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack.  What fun!

  • Sweet Balloon.  These versatile papers set the ground work for a perfect celebration, don’t you think?  The sentiment and the coordinated banners also add to the party – but what party is complete without a balloon.  My celebratory card needed a single, pink balloon to complete the party and to coordinate with the Melon Mambo base of the card.  I punched the balloon with the Party Punch Pack – three tiny punches with a balloon, cupcake and candle.  So sweet for a quick-and-easy balloon.
  • Celebratory Colors.  The panel of Crushed Curry in the background is a perfect support for this sweet sentiment and Melon Mambo balloon, don’t you think?  I pulled these colors right from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack – I’m not ashamed.  I might never have paired Crushed Curry with Melon Mambo, but I absolutely love it.  It’s almost like the colors don’t work so well that they are perfect for each other.  Does that even make sense?   If you like these colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
