Since I first received Happy Happenings at the release of Stampin’ Up!’s 2016-2017 Annual Catalog, I’ve been itching to use the pairing of the “Me? Miss you? Only all the time” sentiments. I needed the right colors and right image to pair them with – and I found it! Yippee! Today I’m excited to finally showcase this wonderful sentiment, paired with the sweet image from Happy Home. Here’s my card:
I mean, really. How sweet is that sentiment – doesn’t it seem like it was made for this lonely bench on a hill?
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Grass and Sky. The background panel of this card is split down the middle between Wild Wasabi on the bottom and Soft Sky on the top. I chose these colors to represent sky and ground. The colors tie to the green grass and blue clouds in the stamped image that’s directly in the center of the card. The light colors gave me the perfect backdrop for the sentiments – one in the top left and one in the bottom right.
- Stamp Sets. I’ve always loved Happy Happenings and reach for it almost every time I make a card. The sentiments are super-versatile, and the fonts are gorgeous. As I mention earlier, this sentiment from Happy Happenings was meant to be with this sweet scene from Happy Home. There’s just something so simple and serene about this scene and something so sweet about these words.
- Colors. You might not be able to tell from the card photograph, but I used Early Espresso cardstock to frame the panels (it might look black from the photo). The bench needed to be brown (from my visual interpretation of the card), so it made sense that Early Espresso should frame the card. If you like this sweet combination of colors, feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: Happy Happenings, Happy Home Papers: Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Whisper White Inks: Basic Black Archival, Stampin’ Write Markers (Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso) Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals
I’ll be back tomorrow with a bit more information about this card – so please come back.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Oh, I like what you did with this adorable bench to keep it from getting lost on the card . As you know I like this Bundle. There is a saying in the Balloon Celebration stamp set that says “Come ,let us sit together……”.
This is the sweetest image ! Love this card !!
What a great idea, Sonny! I might need to pair those two – perfect! 🙂
Love how you divided the land and the sky! Sweet and simple.
Thanks, Mary. It adds a little intrigue – but it’s nothing huge. Appreciate your thoughts.
This card is sweet and a little melancholy.
Love all the layers. You are the king of layers. Thanks.
Awww, thanks, Dianne. I do love layers, and I’m glad you like them.
This is the sweetest card Brian, if this doesn’t say to a friend or loved one that you miss them, I don’t know what will.
That bench surely looks lonely, needs good friends to sit and enjoy the view.
Thank you for sharing.
I agree, Maria – the image is quite poignant. I’m glad you like the card. Thanks.
Awwww, my friend , that is sooo, pretty , and SWEET !!!!
I miss you too, hope to see you again one day !!!
Hugs Frenchie
Tee hee. Always love to hear from you, Frenchie! Thanks.
This card is missing Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant from Notting Hill.
So sweet!
Fun reference, Katrina. I’ll see if they are available. 🙂
Great card Brian! Awesome sentiment. Love that you kept the background blocked as it allows the slope of the hill in the main image to pop.
Thanks, Dana. I wanted to keep the background simple so the bench and hill could be front-and-center. I love a good color-blocking. 🙂
What a perfect card for friends that have been separated by miles for one reason or another. I think that without the Early Espresso the scene would have been kind of lost within itself. By using that Early Espresso to back the layers you really made this card pop. I just love it Brian. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks so much, Grace. I think these colors look great together – I hadn’t used Early Espresso in quite a while.
How nice of you to do a whole blog post about me! 😀 I miss you too!
LOVE this card and I don’t know how you keep finding sentiments I overlook! Love this one!
It’s true – I DO miss you, Lydia. I originally tried to sketch you on the bench, but I’m not that much of an artist. Thanks!
Great design! Love the colors too!
Thanks, Sharon! I appreciate it.
Great card! You match the scenes and sentiments so perfectly, Brian.
Definately a keeper!
Thanks, Di. I’ve loved this sentiment from the moment I first saw it. It needed this bench…
Love!
🙂 Thanks, Jennifer.
Aww, the sweetest card ever!
Thanks, Sheryl! The image really set the tone.
