Remembering Your Birthday for FMS225

I took a little creative license with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches layout – and I hope Jen Mitchell approves.  When I saw Jen’s super-simple sketch, I knew exactly what I would make.  I decided on colors and immediately got to work on this card.  By the end, though, I had flipped the sketch around and moved some things around.  You can still see Jen’s sketch there…if you squint and stand back from your screen and turn your head a bit.  🙂  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Products Used.   This card starts with the joy of the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set and finishes with the fun of the Back to Basics Alphabet stamp set.  I paired those with bright, colorful balloons from the Balloon Bouquet punch to complete the look.   Remembering Your Birthday, Back to Basics Alphabet, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS225
  • Balloon Strings.  I’ve shared this before and can’t help but share it again – the easiest way to create fun balloon strings is with a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker.  The good news?  This is one of a few markers that are sold individually.  Stock up on these, and you’ll not have to worry about your balloons strings any longer.  You’re welcome – glad I could help.Smoky Slate marker
  • All Brights.  I don’t typically draw all colors for a card from one color family.  For this festive birthday card, though, the Brights just felt right.  If you like this combination of vibrant colors, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight

Stamp Sets:  Remembering Your Birthday, Back to Basics Alphabet  Papers:  Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper, Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker  Accessories:  Balloon Bouquet punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with Jen’s fun challenge this week.
