I love playing with paper, and I love working with shapes, sentiments and layouts. More than all of that, I am drawn to the power of colors. The way colors are mixed on a project can really define the mood or feel of a card. Stampin’ Up!’s current color families offer a wide variety of colors that can be paired in so many wild and wonderful ways.
Over the past several months, I’ve shared color combinations that I think are perfect for seasonal holidays. You can see those here:
- Halloween Color Combinations
- Thanksgiving/Fall Color Combinations
- Christmas Color Combinations
- Valentine’s Day Color Combinations
Today I am sharing my thoughts about colors that work perfectly for Easter and Spring. These colors are perfect on cards that span the first touch of Spring through Easter and Mother’s Day. Fresh, soft and bright. All you need is paper or ink with these colors and a sentiment (maybe some flowers) and you are good to go!
Soft Pastels and Sweet Brights
The first collection of color combinations that are perfect for Easter or Spring consists of pastel colors. For each collection of three colors I selected one of each from the following four color groups:
- pinks
- purples
- greens/yellows
- blues
It’s a safe bet that selecting any combination of colors (one color from three of these color groups) will result in a gorgeous project and will put you in the Spring mood.
Soft Pastels and a Neutral
Easter and Spring projects won’t always be soft and sweet. Sometimes you want a neutral color to help ground the softness a bit. Similar to the chart above, I created combinations with pastels (two colors from two of the four color groups above) and neutrals. The light and Springy feel is still there – the neutrals can help to enrich the softness of the pastels.
Once you’ve selected your colors, you’ll want to consider whether to pair them with Whisper White or Very Vanilla. Hold them up to each before making that choice. Every additional shade will change the overall look of your card – and only you can decide where you want to go with it.
There are some great images in our Stampin’ Up! catalogs that are perfect for Easter and Spring projects – lots of flowers, a floral wreath, crosses, cute animals (chick, lamb) – but you can create super-cute projects with the right colors and a sentiment. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

This is a brilliant idea! Sumptuous color combinations and I love the addition of the palettes with a neutral . . . a modern twist.
Thanks, Mary. The neutrals take these color to a new level. Thanks!
Oh thank you Brian, I’m going to save this chart, I wish I could print it,
Is there a way to do that ???
Thanks my friend , it will come in handy !!!
Hugs your friend
Frenchie ❤️
Frenchie if you’re on a computer, hit “print screen” and copy to a blank document, then print. If you’re on a iPad or iPhone, hit the on/off button and home button at the same time. It will save to “photos” and you can print from there.
Thanks, Traci!
Frenchie – Thanks so much! I’m sure you can copy these photos into a document you can print. I’m glad you like it!
Always the helpful one Brian! Thank you. You put together color combos I would never think of and they are all fabulous. Maybe you should become one of those color consultants like they have at the paint stores. Please know how appreciated your efforts are on our behalf. Big hugs to you.

Thanks Brian for the email with the colour combination. Yesterday I made several cards and for some reason I was no happy with them, I got your email and the penny dropped I’m not using the right colour combinations. So I went to your Pinterest page and pinned all the colour combinations on it, I’ll be making mare cards today using your ideas and some of the other demonstrators colours that pinned. I’m sure I’ll will have a more favourable result.
Wow, Paula! That makes me so happy to hear. I hope that these colors helped to inspire you to make something beautiful! <3
Thanks so much, Brian, for these color combinations. I have saved them, as well as others you have posted. It makes it much easier to use colors you have put together than for me to spend time trying to figure out what works. Why re-invent the wheel, right??? Thanks again.
I am so happy they are helpful, HJ. Colors are so important to a card, so it’s great to find combinations that work well.
