It’s Your Day! Birthday Card

I love a good birthday card – festive, fun and to-the-point.  On the surface, today’s birthday card is a quick-and-easy card, but take another look.  This card required patience and time, but you can easily switch out some of the components to make it quick, easy and fun.  Take a look:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • So, What Took So Long?  The panels on this card were easy to assemble.  It seems so straight forward, so why do I say it took time and patience to create?  I’m sure you already noticed, but the middle panel of this card is stamped – I stamped the sentiment from Suite Sayings over and over with my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig.  I started with a full panel but decided to crop it down for this card, but the stamping for this piece, alone, takes quite a bit of concentration.  Do-able, but time-intensive.
  • Layering.  This card was constructed with a card base and three panels that just seem to work together.  I snipped away at them a bit until I found the right balance I wanted.  Three Regals Candy Dots balanced everything out perfectly.  Here are the measurements for the three central panels on this card:Suite Sayings, Party with Cake, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Birthday Card
  • Feeling Blue.  I’ve been using a lot of blues lately – I guess I stayed away from them after using them so much during the Holidays.  This week’s cards are almost all on blue (or blue-ish) bases, and there are more to come.  If you like this combination of colors, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 7. I was pretty sure as soon as I looked at this that it was NOT quick and easy. Love that background with the “They say it’s your birthday”. Nice job!

  8. Needless to say, this is a fantastic card. I love the way you back the panels to make them stand out. I forget about the candy dots all the time and I do have a bunch of them. They ARE perfect for that little bit needed to balance a card (even without squinting). Speaking of that, I probably owe you about 3 bucks by now. Oh well, come up to visit and I’ll pay up. Have yourself a Super Sunday. Big hugs!

  9. AND you used candy dots, too. Feels like that has been awhile, too, or maybe I’m not paying attention. Love this card, love the colors together, great choices!

  15. Wonderful colors, Brian. Your time was well worth it. Love this card and your sharing sizes. So enjoy the backing on your panels, what a difference it makes.

  16. You are so good at this, I tried to case another card of yours that you did this repeat style, but it’s truly not as easy as it looks. My hats off to you Brian, job well done!
