Cake Time for GDP026

This week’s Global Design Project sketch is super-clean and super-simple.  It doesn’t get any better than this – and I was excited to finally use my cake stamp from Party Wishes and my sentiment from Party Pants.  All-in-all, this card is all about the party.  🙂  Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Party Wishes, Party Pants, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP026, Birthday Card And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP026Tips, Tricks and Reminders

    • Party Wishes.  I started to use this cake image (love it, by the way!) several times since I first got this set, but I haven’t been able to make it work the way I wanted.  Every time I’ve tried to use it, though, I’ve consistently stamped it in Mint Macaron.  I just scanned the catalog, sure that maybe a project in there inspired my consistent pairing of this cake and Mint Macaron, but no – the cake is shown in yellow in the catalog.  Not sure where that came from, but I have to say it’s yummy.  🙂  I used my Misti to stamp the entire image in Mint Macaron before inking the cake stand in Island Indigo.  This great tool allowed me to get it EXACTLY where I wanted it.

    • More Blues.  As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve been making a lot of blue cards lately – Pool Party, Soft Sky, Mint Macaron, Night of Navy.  Today’s project uses more aqua blues, but there’s also a lot of white in this card to help balance them out a bit.  If you like this combination of colors, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Mint Macaron, Island Indigo, Whisper White
    • Party Pants.  I love the pairing of this sentiment from Party Pants set with this cake from Party Wishes. What a great set!  There are so many wonderful sentiments – and each fits perfectly inside a balloon from the Birthday Bouquet punch.  But you don’t HAVE to put the sentiments in the balloon – I won’t tell you what you need to do, but I will tell you that you want this stamp set.  Better yet – it’s a BONUS with a $50 purchase.  Yippee!  Check out all the great images and sentiments from the set:

THERE’S EVEN MORE:  I’ve shared a second post about this card with lots more information and a fun graphic to showcase the products used on this card.  You can see it here.

  3. Hi Brian:

Good card to keep in mind when you need something last minute. Nice, clean, simple. Don’t you just love your Misti? I still use my stamp-a-ma-jig for the wooden stamps but the Misti truly allows me to get nice, clean, well inked solid images. Beautiful card as always Brian. Have a great day.

    • Thanks, Grace! I don’t use the Misti for every card, but it’s wonderful for these kinds of solid photopolymer stamps. You are so wonderful.

Mint Macaron for St. Patrick’s Day! (cough, cough, which just happens to be my birthday in case you need to send this card to someone!) Just kidding, well my birthday is really the 17th! Anyway, I think I really do like the selection of colors and the white grounds it so well. Love all the luscious layers just like in a real cake. Great job as always.

  5. This card is so striking! Love it BK!

  6. Totally CAS and easy to stamp with with the MISTI, love the colors too, really subtle shades of blue.
