Thank You for Making Me Smile for GDP028

It’s time for another “CASE the Designer” challenge at the Global Design Project.  The inspiration for this challenge is a lovely card by Design Team Member Jessica Williams.  Jessica’s card uses the sentiment “You make my heart smile” from Timeless Love (a sentiment I used on my the projects I shared yesterday – you can see that project here).  The card I made for this challenge looks nothing like Jessica’s card (not the same layout or colors or images) – I was inspired by the word “smile” to make this bright-and-festive card:

GDP028Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pretty Thankful.  It would be easy to overlook this adorable stamp set in the Annual Catalog, but it’s worth a look.  While there’s not much fanfare around the set or images that really stand out, the sentiments are truly adorable.  Because the set is photopolymer, it’s really easy to build the sentiments you want – and you can say thank you for almost anything.  I chose “thank you for making me smile” as inspiration from Jessica’s amazing card.  Just look at all the amazing and fun sentiments that pair with “thank you for”…

  • Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  You already know how much I love to color on my black and white papers, right?  With four bright and cheery colors, I turned this page of Every Chic Designer Series Paper into a fun backdrop for my vibrant flower.  I was almost done with coloring this piece of paper (working my way from the top, left corner) when I decided to change course to color the insides of the images with Daffodil Delight.  I then added a thin strip of Tempting Turquoise and mounted my fun flower on that.  If you’d like to see my video about customizing Designer Series Papers, you can see it here.
  • Bright Colors.  The four colors I used in this project really help to brighten the black-and-white landscape.  Tempting Turquoise, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Daffodil Delight couldn’t look more like an assortment of hightlighters if I tried.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 6. When I first looked at your card I didn’t recognize the DSP – then I read what Mr. Talented did to change it from O.K. to gorgeous. I should have known! Just beautiful. Yet another day when I think to myself “why don’t you ever think of these things?”! Good thing I have Brian! LOL

    Frenchie,

  9. Brian, this is absolutely wonderful. I certainly don’t even remember seeing this stamp set in the annual catalog. You are right though, it is a great set and now I know I have to add it to my collection. I love what you did with the designer paper. Your colors make everything pop right off the page. And those framlits? I’ve had them ever since they came out and have never used them. I really need to stop doing that. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.

    • Bobbi – How awesome! I may have inspired you to get a stamp set you don’t have and to use a set of Framelits you already have. 🙂 I am so glad you like the card. <3
