Hi (That’s All) for GDP029

This week’s Global Design Project Color Challenge includes three colors that, at first pass, seem to be Fall-themed colors – Tangelo Twist, Bermuda Bay and Early Espresso.  I couldn’t reach back into my Fall leaves to create a card (Spring has sprung in Atlanta!), so I took a different approach to showcase this lovely color combination.  Here’s my card for this week’s GDP029:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP029Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Mystery Stamps.  So, do you know which stamp sets I used to create this fun card?  I used one for the background and one for the sentiment.  I’m not going to make you guess – I’m just going to tell you.  Unless you really wanted to guess – I don’t want to steal all the joy out of our game.  Go ahead – put your hand over your screen and take a guess…now, I’ll tell you.  I used the leaves pattern from Sheltering Tree to create the colorful patterns that makeup the background of this card and the sentiment from Party Pants, one of the Sale-a-Bration items that you can earn with a $50 purchase (promotion ends March 31).  Here’s a closer look at both:

  • Order to Everything.  To create a light, airy background pattern on this card, I stamped off each of the colors once on scrap paper before stamping onto the cardstock.  I started with the Bermuda Bay ink in the middle.  Once I completed my layer of Bermuda Bay, I stamped the Tangelo area, allowing the image to stamp off the edge before stamping a couple of times with a full coverage of ink along the edges.  I repeated that process for the Early Espresso image.  I love that the colors just blend into each other to create one background of color.  So many options for creating gorgeous backgrounds, don’t you think?
  • Layers.  You love when I share layer sizes with you, so I thought I’d be super-giving today.  Here’s a graphic that shows the measurements of the simple layers I used on this card:Sheltering Tree, Party Pants, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP029

Stamp Sets:  Sheltering Tree, Party Pants  Papers:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White  Inks:  Tangelo Twist, Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso  Accessories:  2″ Circle punch, 1-3/4″ Circle punch, 1-3/8″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
