A couple of weeks ago, I shared that I don’t feature flowers a lot on my cards. Since then, it seems like I’ve featured flowers far more often than I normally would. With Bermuda Bay and Cucumber Crush as principal players in Michelle Quinno’s color challenge at the Pals Paper Arts this week, I couldn’t NOT use Wild About Flowers… Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Wild About Two-Step Stamping. Two-step Stamping is a technique that’s been around for quite some time (stamp one image and then stamp a coordinating image) – photopolymer stamps make this technique A LOT easier to achieve a perfect look. Wild About Flowers contains three arrangements of wild flowers that are easy and fun to stamp. Because the stamp is offered in photopolymer, it’s see-through and super-easy to build the flowers with the colors of your choice. I simply stamped the stems/leaves with Cucumber Crush (there’s a little arrow on the stamp to indicate which side is “up”). I then stamped the flower images in Bermuda Bay (making sure the arrow was pointing the same way as the arrow on the stems/leaves). So easy! I’m not sure if I’d ever find this flower in nature with a bright aqua-blue hue, but I’m sure I’d love it if I did.
- A Diagonal Band. I had this card all pulled together when I thought I should add a Bermuda Bay band behind the sentiment panel. Rather than just add a centered strip across the card, I opted for a diagonal band. I decided to not center the band, either, which allowed me to play with the placement of the focal panel. The addition of the band really changed up the card – so glad I played around with it a bit before gluing everything down. 🙂
- A Sentiment Everyone Should Own. I am such a fan of inspiring and uplifting projects – I love a card that says “woo hoo” or “you are awesome” because everyone can enjoy a pat on the back, right? This sentiment from World of Dreams is perfect. Isn’t that what everyone wants to be – someone who makes other people happy? Not only does this card offer a sweet image of wild flowers, but it offers a message that melts my heart.

Stunning card!
Thanks, Debbie! Glad you like it.
Beautiful card! Fingers crossed for my favorite set, Wild About Flowers, to carry over.
Thanks, Pam! It really is a great set.
Wonderful card Brian. Would you help us with measurements of the many layers?
Shari – thanks! The largest Crumb Cake panel is 5-1/4″ x 4″ – each of the outside panels is just 1/8″ shorter on each side. The inside Crumb Cake panel is 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ – each of the inside panels is just 1/8″ shorter on each side. Hope that helps!
Thanks, you’re a love
Totally love your card Brian!! 🙂
Thanks, Tonya! Glad you like it. 🙂
This is such a beautiful card Brian. I had to laugh because the first card of yours that I ever came across on the internet had flowers on it. 🙂 The background band really adds flair.
Maybe I do more flowers than I think…thanks, Dawn! Always happy to hear from you. 🙂
Again, you fool me with “where did that sentiment come from!” Love this simple and pretty card.
Thanks, Mary! I really love my sentiments – and I know you do, too.
So pretty! I love the extra touch with the diagonal band ! Brilliant
Thanks, Jennifer. It all came together when I added that band. Glad you like it!
7 layers, oh yea! The band layer sets you apart, that’s why you’re the King!
Thanks, Katrina! 🙂
Love it! Beautiful color combination and layering.
Thanks, Liz! I set out to make a super-clean card but couldn’t control myself with all the layers. I’m glad you like it. 🙂
I love this flower set, and you have made it all the more special in your own wonderful style. Beautiful, as always Brian.
Thanks so much, Lynn! <3
You’ve made a very thoughtful card with flowers that is not too fussy or floral. Very tastefully done. Great job!

Great card, Brian. I love the plaid DSP with the flowers and the sentiment is a favorite.
Clever choice using the black layers, Brian. They really set off the other colors and give such a crisp look. Fabulous as always!!
