This week’s Theme Challenge at the Global Design Project asks us to be inspired by nature. Who doesn’t love nature?! This challenge inspired me to roll my sleeves up and create a beautiful card that I would be proud to share with you – how exciting! Instead of creating a realistic image of nature, though, I created a graphic thank you card with a modern, cool tree. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Build-a-Tree. While I really adore this modern “thank you” from One Big Meaning (I masked the second part of this sentiment with tape), this tree is definitely the showpiece on this card. Not only does the tree pull in both of the colors on this card – Mint Macaron and Soft Suede – but it was super-easy to create. I built this tree with two photopolymer stamp sets – Sprinkles of Life (this year’s Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set) and What’s Your Type? (a versatile set that can be used for so many great projects).
- Too Tall. I really wanted to create a tall, slender card for this challenge – didn’t won’t to lop off my tree panel to make it shorter. As such, I reached for my 12″ x 12″ In Color cardstock to create this 6″ x 4-1/4″ card front. That additional 1/2″ made all the difference in the world. The In Colors are offered in 12″ x 12″ packets – you get FOUR sheets of each of the five colors. What a great way to get the most from 12″ x 12″ cardstock!
- Colors. Mint Macaron has quickly become a favorite color of mine. It pairs with almost anything perfectly. It can be bold or soft; it can be sweet or sassy. I love how it pairs with Soft Suede to create a very neutral appeal. If you like this combination of colors, too, please feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: Sprinkles of Life, What’s Your Type?, One Big Meaning Papers: It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack, Mint Macaron, Soft Suede, Whisper White Inks: Soft Suede, Mint Macaron Accessories: Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian
Lovely, just lovely! Thanks for sharing Brian.
Thank you, Bernie! I had a lot of fun with this card.
I love it. Love the modern twist on the tree – very CAS! 🙂
Thanks, Tracy! I’m so happy you like my “modern” twist.
A stunner! I also love your palette. I haven’t given Mint Macaron a fair shake. Time to remedy that!
Oh, Annie! Mint Macaron is a keeper – give it another try. Thanks for your kind feedback.
I’ve never thought to make a “tall” card…I love the inspiration from tall people! Thanks Brian! 🙂
Haha! Tall cards and tall people are totally cool. Thanks, Dawn.
Very cool! Love love love this card Brian. That tree is genius! I also love how you used the sentiment, what a clever idea to remove some of the words.
Thanks, Kylie! I love to play with sentiments – the “from all of us” just doesn’t make sense for me. I love the modern look of the thank you.
Fantastic little tree. Love how you “sized up” the card!
Thanks, Mary! ❤️
I love the versatility of It’ My Party stack. Great card, as always!
It’s one of the best DSP Stacks we’ve ever had. I love it! Thanks, Dianne!
Love the tree! Beautiful color combo!
Thanks, Elisha!
I love these colors together. The tree is stunning and the striped paper really pulls it altogether. Great job!
Thanks so much, HJ. The Soft Suede really pulls out a lovely element of the Mint Macaron.
Great colors, thanks for the constant reminder to mask are sentiments!
Great job.
Happy to remind you! I’m always looking for new ways to use my sentiments. Thanks!
Good Morning Brian. What a beautiful, soft color combination. The beauty in this card is it’s simplicity. Although there are five layers of card stock, the look is still beautifully simple. It takes such a special talent to make what may be a bit complicated to look easy. Kind of like when an ice skater skates backwards and ends with a slight leap. They make it look easy when it actually is a bit difficult. You are so dang talented. Love it.
You say the nicest things, Grace! I love the comparison to ice skating – except that this is totally duplicatable. 🙂 Thanks so much, my dear friend!
Oh love it , love the colors Brian, so. Clean and neat
Tfs my friend
Hugs Frenchie
My card will be in the mail tomorrow, ok
Ran out of stamps , lol,
Thanks, Frenchie! It’s always nice to hear from you! Can’t wait to see your card. ❤️
Another amazing card!!!!
Thanks, Pam! You are so good to me.
So modern to pair those stamp set together! Love it!
Thanks, Krista! It was a fun find.
I like everything about the card, the color palette, the modern twist on the image….
Thanks so much, Barbara! These were fun images to pair with each other.
I adore graphic, geometric cards Brian, because they are so far removed from my own. I think your tree is adorable, but also immediately recognisable for what it is. Your whole layout spotlights is beautifully!
Thanks so much, Paula! I love that our team brings so many different styles. I appreciate you!
Oooh!! So graphic! It caught my eye on the challenge site. Nice balance of elements, too!
Thanks so much, Julie! Glad it caught your eye! I had a lot of fun with this card.
That tree is a piece of pure inspiration. Love it.
Thank you so much, Shawn! Means the world coming from you.
