Marquee Messages – A Second Peek

Yesterday, I was excited to share with you a new stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog – Marquee Messages.  If you missed that project, you can see it here.  What an amazing stamp set with a cool graphic and sentiments!  Today’s project was designed for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge (a sketch by Amy O’Neill) and showcases the versatility of this stamp set.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for Amy’s challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Awesome Sentiments.  Like I mentioned yesterday, this set is filled with amazing “woo hoo” sentiment – You Are Invited, You Are Awesome and It’s Your Birthday.  The tagline sentiments are just as fun and coordinate perfectly.  How fun are these taglines:
    • No, really, you are! (I used that one yesterday)
    • Party like a rock star! (it’s on the balloon above)
    • …and I appreciate everything you do.
    • So excited to see you!
    • So proud of you!
  • Two Balloons.  Amy’s sketch calls for something to pop out from behind the rectangular panel.  Because I’m a mischievous rule-breaker, I let it pop from the front of the panel.  You might not get a clear view of this from the photo above, but I punched the balloon with Crushed Curry and Night of Navy.  I lined them up – one on top of the other – with Stampin’ Dimensionals between the layers.  It adds depth to the balloons – almost like there’s a little shadow.

  • Striped Band.  The thick band across the front panel of my card is from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (Crushed Curry).  While that paper is striped at a diagonal, I cut into the paper to create long strips of horizontal stripes.  You know I love to cut into my paper to change the direction of the stripes, right?
