SNEAK PEEK: Love & Affection for PPA299

Peggy Noe has selected three colors for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge that are perfect for each other – Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz and Gold.  I might never have paired these colors together, but I’m so happy for Peggy’s influential wisdom.  These colors work perfectly together – by changing up the balance of each of these three colors,  you can easily shift from soft and sweet to fun and flashy.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sweetest Sayings.  You know how much I adore sentiments, right?  If you don’t have the right words, then a card can feel flat or even inappropriate – who wants a sympathy card that says “yippee!” or a congratulations card that says “thinking of you”?  If I could create a Hall of Fame for sets with great sentiments, Love & Affection would be one of the first inductees.  The sentiments in Love & Affection are not only super-sweet, but they are beautifully scripted.  Even if flowers aren’t your thing, this photopolymer set needs to be on your wish list for these sentiments alone.  Do you love them?  Love & Affection, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI posted a card earlier this week with another sentiment from this set – if you missed it, you can see it here.
  • Tilt It.  The stripes on this Gold Designer Series Paper Stack are rather steep – I love the angle for a perfect backdrop on a card.  I trimmed into the paper a bit to lessen the angle on the stripes, which allowed me to layer in my Pear Pizzazz band and sentiment so that you wouldn’t have to wrench your neck to read it.  How super-thoughtful am I?!  This reduced-angle still honors the slant without obnoxiously slanting the words.  You’re welcome.Love & Affection, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA299
  • Back it Up.  I often add tiny borders around my panels that give a nice frame and additional support for popping up the layers.  I really, really didn’t want to add another layer here (I can be stubborn sometimes), so I opted to add a layer of cardstock beneath the Designer Series Paper Stack panel.  It comes right to the edge and gives me the support I need to pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
