Get Well Sooner for GDP#039

As soon as I saw this week’s “Get Well Soon” theme for The Global Design Project, I reached for the adorable basket of flowers in the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, the Ronald McDonald stamp set in last year’s Annual Catalog and a carryover item into 2016’s Annual Catalog.  Who doesn’t love a basket of flowers when they are sick?  This bushel is sure to cheer up the recipient.  Here’s my card:

Spinkles of Life, Circle of Spring, Greatest Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Get Well Card, GDP039And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP039Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Thin, White border.  Once the flowers were punched with the Tree Builder punch and the bow was cropped with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits, I was left with a thin, white border.  I wanted that same border around my basket, so I did a little bit of snipping and layering to achieve the look I wanted.  Here are the punched, cropped and snipped components of my card:Spinkles of Life, Circle of Spring, Greatest Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Get Well Card, GDP039
  • Pick-Me-Up Colors.  I could have picked any colors for this Get Well Soon challenge – I decided to stick with In Colors to color the flowers and bow, and they couldn’t have worked more perfectly for me.  I balanced the flowers between Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder.  I colored the leaves with Emerald Envy and colored the bow with Peekaboo Peach.  The Sahara Sand basket and card base added a muted tone to the color palette.Spinkles of Life, Circle of Spring, Greatest Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Get Well Card, GDP039

Stamp Sets:  Sprinkles of Life, Circle of Spring, Greatest Greetings  Papers:  Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Markers (Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder, Emerald Envy)  Accessories:  Tree Builder Punch, Wonderful Wreath Framelits,  Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

  8. Good Morning Brian!

As always – an exceptional card! You teach me something every day and one of the best lessons I’ve learned from you is to use my punches with multiple sets of stamps like using the build a tree punch to make a cloud, cut out a bunch of flowers, punch the ice cream for an ice cream cone. I’m getting better at thinking “outside the box” but I still need you to help me envision the diversity in every punch. Thank you.

  9. Supper sweet…..love how yourut the white edge around the basket!
