Christmas Joy to You

There was absolutely no way I could stay away from this week’s Christmas in July Theme Challenge from the Paper Players.  Since the release Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog, I have new paper (This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper) and a new stamp set (Joyful Nativity) that have been begging for airtime on my blog.  🙂  Today’s the day they will make their debut in a super-clean Christmas card.  Yippee!  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for Sandy Mathis’s Paper Players challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper.  If you are like me (and I know that you are), you probably don’t read every detail about every product in the catalog.  Oh, don’t get me wrong – I study the images and sentiment and colors, but I don’t read every detail.  Where was I?  Oh, yes.  If you are like me, then you might have missed a key detail about the new This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper – what makes is special.  Like Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (from the last two years), This Christmas is printed on lightweight paper – similar to a newspaper print.  It’s really cool!  As such, you get 4 sheets of 6 designs in the pack – that’s 24 sheets of Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Very Vanilla prints.  So versatile!

  • Double-up!  Because Very Vanilla is not a thick cardstock, it’s tricky to pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals if it’s not backed with something thicker – it will easily bend or crease before arriving at its final destination.  To give this banner a little more support, I simply glued an additional banner (cut with the exact same size with the same Very Vanilla cardstock) to the back of this one.  How easy is that?Joyful Nativity, Time of Year, Perfectly Wrapped, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Classic Color Combination.  I’m going to share a well-kept secret – Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Very Vanilla make a lovely color combination for Christmas.  OK, so maybe that’s not a big secret, but it’s a fact – and it’s very important for you to know.  Rich, deep and festive – all at the same time.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 5. Good Morning Brian:

I absolutely love, love, love, love, love this card! Of course the color combo screams Christmas as does the word Joy but the real draw is the way you layered the word Christmas over it. Absolutely artistry at its best! I can tell that even with the tons of Christmas stamps I have I may just have to bite the bullet and get everything on the supply list. I’ll start saving up today. LOL Have a wonderful Christmas in July kind of day.

Now I have to put in an order for the Christmas products I don’t have. I’m glad I pre-ordered Time of Year stamp set

  13. Just thought I’d let you know that I somewhat cased your card. There were two others who cased you that also inspired me. I made 9 cards and they all turned beautiful. I used the double banner idea. It worked perfectly. That was a great tip.
    Merry Christmas
