Flourishing Phrases & Flourish Thinlits for FabFri92

FabFriday is back with a great color combination for Christmas – Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Very Vanilla.  While I chose to NOT make a Christmas card (and instead made a sympathy card with these gorgeous colors), I’d argue (well, maybe I’d just softly and politely suggest) that this card could serve as a Christmas card with a different sentiment.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the Fab Friday color challenge that inspired my card:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Very VanillaTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Flourishing Phrases Bundle.  What a versatile bundle!  For starters, the dies in the Flourish Thinlits are just spectacular!  With a Precision Base Plate and a Big Shot Dies Brush, you can crop out these amazing dies without having to dig them out of the die or picking out the little pieces.  All of the dies in this set work with the Precision Base Plate except the three smallest ones (those will warp on the plate, so I suggest cropping them with the standard platform or Magnetic Platform).  Here’s a video where Holly shares some great tips for using this awesome set of dies:

  • Snip-and-Add.  The large flourish that’s the centerpiece of this card already has two flowers built in to the die.  So that I could add these Cherry Cobbler flowers (also part of the set of dies), I simply snipped the flowers that were there before gluing the flourish to the card base.  Easy as pie.  You’ll want to make sure you get these Framelits – but you’ll probably want the entire bundle.  Quick note:  the Flourishing Phrases bundle will earn you a $5 coupon that you can use in August – see promotion details below.

  • Avoiding Christmas.  It’s July, and I’ve already shared two Christmas cards in the past week.  While my card-making instincts told me to add a thin Garden Green border around the focal panel of this card (to frame it with a width similar to the stems of the green flourish), I knew that would take this card closer to a Christmas card.  To avoid that, I doubled up on the Very Vanilla panel to give it the firmness it needed to be popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
