Made of Wonderful for FMS247

Shannon Jaramillo is hosting this week’s sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Her simple sketch deserves a sweet card, so I reached for my Sweet Cupcake set and paired the giant cupcake with the most perfect sentiment (I searched the catalog over for a more perfect sentiment – and there is none better than this).  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Perfect Pair.  Don’t you agree that this sentiment from Picture Perfect – “You are made of wonderful” deserves to be paired with the delicious cupcake?  I tried and tried to come up with the perfect sentiment for this ginormous, tiny cake and was thrilled when I stumbled upon this one.  This cupcake has been sitting on the edge of my desk for several weeks – this sketch gave me the opportunity to pull the image, the sentiment and these colors together into one fun card.  This is my second card this week with a sentiment from this set – you can see the first one here.

  • Colors for the Sweet Cupcake.  The first time I shared the Three-Step Stampin’ stamp set, I made a fun pink cupcake with a gray base (you can see that project here).  I played around with new colors to create a vibrant blue cupcake.  Here’s the recipe for the colors I used, starting with the softest colors on the images with the most coverage (the top cupcake image and cupcake liner image below) and working my way down:  CUPCAKE:  Pool Party, Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay  LINER:  Crumb Cake, Soft Suede (stamped off once), Early Espresso

  • Color Combination.  Mint Macaron is a magical color!  It pairs with everything – it looks good with blues and pinks and browns and grays.  I love how it complements Bermuda Bay in this card and how it bounces against the bright and cheery Melon Mambo.  If you like this color, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
