SNEAK PEEK: Jar of Cheer for PP307

Joanne James is hosting this week’s Paper Players theme challenge with a super-fun theme – a light source.  Light bulbs, sunshine, fireflies…there are so many options.  I chose to offer a sneak peek at a sweet candle from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog.  While I wouldn’t normally pair two greens, I couldn’t help my self here – they provide a sweet backdrop for this burning candle.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for Joanne’s challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • What’s New?  If you don’t already have the Jar of Love and coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits, you’ll want them as soon as you see this catalog.  If you already have them, you’ll be thrilled with that purchase because there are some creative ways to use them in the Holiday Catalog.  While I didn’t use the jars, this candle is designed to fit perfectly inside a jar – how fun!  Here are the new items I’ve featured on my card (although these items are available to customers until September 1, you can click on the pictures below to see them in my online store, along with some other projects to inspire you):

  • The Pieces Parts.  While I was constructing this card, I decided to take a picture of the pieces I used before I assembled all the pieces.  I thought it would be fun to share this with you.  The components are rather simple – panels of cardstock (including pieces cropped from the Layering Ovals Framelits) and Designer Series Paper, a beautiful “Noel” cropped from the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies and a gorgeous candle that was stamped on Whisper White and carefully snipped :Jar of Cheer, Christmas Stockings Thinlints, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP307
  • Color Combination.  Like I said at the beginning of this post, I wouldn’t normally pair two greens as the focal colors on a card, but I really love the peacefulness of the combination of Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron.  I’ve said it before – Mint Macaron pairs beautifully with anything.  Here’s proof.  The panels of Whisper White help to ground all the green.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets:  Jar of Cheer  Papers:  Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper, Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Markers (Mint Macaron, Real Red, Daffodil Delight)  Accessories:  Layering Ovals Framelits Dies, Precision Base Plate (for Noel cutout), Stampin’ Dimensionals

  12. Brian, you regularly show me something that I missed or help me to see something in a different way, and you did it again today. I completely overlooked the Christmas Stockings dies, because I have the old stocking punch and matching stamp set. So I overlooked the NOEL die in that set. You have just put the stocking set back in the running! As always, thanks for the inspiration.
