SNEAK PEEK: Cookie Cutter Halloween

The Holiday Catalog is so inspirational!  If you have flipped through it (or seen samples with products from it), then you are likely as excited about this book as I am.  One of the standouts is the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle – super-cute characters who pair perfectly with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  If that wasn’t enough, there’s a Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set with equally cute characters for Halloween.  Here’s a fun card I made with these new products:

Cookie Cutter Halloween, Spooky Fun, Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Cookie Cutter Builder & Coordinating Sets.  As I mentioned above, these characters are cropped out with a new builder punch in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog.  While the punch is sold with a bundle of the Cookie Cutter Christmas set (so cute!), it also coordinates with these adorable images from Cookie Cutter Halloween.  Here’s my advice – get the bundle and the additional set (I always give very sound advice).  Although these items aren’t available for purchase until September 1, you can see them now in my online store (along with some great samples with the product):

  • Gray on Gray.  These adorable characters are stamped with Archival Basic Gray on Thick Whisper White and then colored with Smoky Slate ink.  I used a blender pen to pick up a little Smoky Slate ink and slather it onto the mummy’s bandages.  After the light shade dried, I added a little bit more ink to the base of each bandage to add a little depth.  For Mr. Skeleton, I did the opposite.  Still using only Smoky Slate ink, I colored the background of this little cutout to allow his no-muscles-attached bones to shine.
  • Color Combination.  This card is not rich with vibrant colors, but the characters still shine.  While they are colored with Smoky Slate, the rest of the card is Basic Gray and Pumpkin Pie.  The background of this card features Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper.  While the paper features Basic Gray, the shading of these bricks varies from light to dark, so it plays well with Smoky Slate, too.
