2016-2018 In Colors for FabFri94 & Sneak Peeks

When Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog arrive in June, five new In Colors were introduced to the world.  Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy debuted to a very warm welcome.  I’m happy to share them again with a Color Challenge from FabFriday.  If I told you that I also challenged myself to make a Christmas card, would you think I’d lost my mind?  Well, it’s true.  Here’s my Christmas card that features all of the 2016-2018 In Colors:

  • Sneak Peeks from the Holiday Catalog.  The 2016-2018 In Colors were introduced in the 2016 Annual Catalog last June.  Foxy Friends was also introduced in that catalog – that’s where you’ll find this adorable tree.  Incidentally, the tree and pot are cropped with the Perfect Pines Framelits Dies (also in the Annual Catalog).  There are also some great, new items on this this card that are featured in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog – the sentiment and the soft background are both created with these new items (you can click either of these pictures to see the products in my online store):

  • Balancing the Colors.  While all five of these colors were introduced together, they are not designed to be a coordinated set.  All five of these colors can really clash with one another, so combining all of them can be tricky.  Here’s my public service announcement to the community of folks who love your work – feature two (or three) of the colors and let the others be background support.  I started with the three lightest colors (Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo) as a cable-knit pattern for the background and then featured the bold, Dapper Denim panel with an Emerald Envy tree.  The Sweet Sugarplum banner ties the front panel to the back.2016-2018 In Colors, Stampin' Up!
  • More In Colors.  If you are like me, then you can’t get enough of these amazing In Colors.  In years past, there’s always been one or two that I have to “warm up to.”  This year, I am immediately in love with all of them.  Earlier this year, I shared two posts that showcase these colors and offer color combinations with these new shades.  You can see them here:

  3. Wow! You combined all of the colors brilliantly – and in a Christmas card no less!!? But with SPARKLE in the sentiment – I expected a little glitter! Lol!! Well done!

  5. Beautiful job with all these colors, Brian! I love your card!

  6. You gave yourself quite a challenge there, to use all five colors in one project but you met it terrifically!

  7. Hi Brian:

I have found that the in colors always seem to compliment each other. When I get them I sit down and just randomly stamp, often with a single stamp, on one card. I’ve never been disappointed in the results. SU does a fab job of coordinating it’s in colors every year. Your use of this group in a Christmas card was not only not expected but quite a pleasant surprise. Only you, Mr. Creativity, could capture the joy of the holiday with that group of colors. LOL Love it!

  8. Great card, Brian! Thank you, so much for the wonderful color combinations. That is one of my biggest problems – matching colors that look well together. GREAT JOB! I love it!

  9. Oh I love it Brian, I love the little pail, what set is it my friend, thanks

So where is your sparkle on the card or are you relying solely on your sparkling personality!?!
