Merry & Bright for FabFri95

I’m thrilled with all the gorgeous Delightful Dijon that’s featured in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog.  It’s so unexpected but works perfectly in all three of the papers where you’ll find it.  Mindy Backes’ FabFri95 gave me the perfect foundation to showcase the starry page of Delightful Dijon from Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper.  Paired with a banner from Stitched with Cheer, I created a super-crisp and clean card for this FabFri challenge.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Presents & Pinecones.  Stampin’ Up! does an amazing job with color pairings in its Designer Series Papers.  While we might be inclined to stick with the colors found in that pack of paper, the options are endless – especially when the page (like the one I’ve chosen) only has one or two colors on it.  I paired the Delightful Dijon with Dapper Denim – totally away from the traditional colors of Christmas – but the papers inspired me to be so bold.  There are so many great pages in this pack of Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Papers – and several of them contain only one or two colors.

  • Classic Framelits.  There are some amazing new Framelits and Thinlits in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog, but don’t forget about all the great products in the Annual Catalog as your design your Christmas card.  I’ve used two Framelits from the Annual Catalog on this simple card – the Stars Framelits to crop the star and the Bunch of Banners to crop the banner.  Both of these are versatile products that can be used throughout the year.

  • Color Combination.  These three colors – Delightful Dijon, Dapper Denim and Whisper White are perfect together.  There’s no need to add any other colors here.  The large block of Dapper Denim on the focal panel and the thick border around the card help to balance the yellow page and star.  If you like these colors, too, please save this: Stampin' Up! 2. Great card! Love the color combos.

  3. Great color combo and your layout and design could be used for any occasion . This is one of those to leave the sentiment off until you need a card for someone or some event . This would be a great card for my daughter Starr (who is having a birthday Sunday )
    Happy Friday !

  4. Your CAS cards always amaze me and this one is no different!

  5. Hi Brian:

Glad you posted this color combination because I don’t think I’ve actually used the Delightful Dijon except for the day the order arrived. On that day I always sit with all five colors and just stamp a card front to see how they all flow together. I usually use flower stamps when I do that and it always seem to work out beautifully for me. However, for some unknown reason I don’t think I’ve used it since. So your card for today is really inspiring me to take out that Delightful Dijon and actually use it, especially since I have all the new colors also. Thank you!

  6. These was was starry Delightful Dijon paper in the Going Places paper stack in the Occasions catalog. I loved it, but it was only around for a short time. I’m glad they brought something similar back!

  7. Love the simple layering of sweet elements and pretty paper!

  8. Today’s card is very versatile as others have mentioned. The DSP is very pretty with the Dapper Denim. This color combo is definitely a stretch for me as a Christmas card, but it really works nicely. Thanks for making me think outside the box.

  9. These two colors are fabulous together! Crisp, clean and oh so pretty!
