Spooky Fun with a Cute Ghost

Two weeks ago, I shared a super-fun Halloween card for the FabFriday sketch challenge.  The card features a large circle with a spooky Halloween scene – you can see that card here.  In my post for that card, I shared how I had pulled the focal scene from an abandoned card that I couldn’t get to work with the background I had created.  Today’s card showcases that abandoned background, repurposed with a different focal image.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Super-Simple.  This card essentially consists of a piece of Halloween Street Specialty Designer Series Paper (cropped along the strip of the paper), a sentiment that’s stamped along the line of the paper and a fun focal image.  There’s a lot of white space on this card, but it works really well because there’s so much to look at on the base of this card.  I showcased the small ghost on a slightly-larger gray circle to add space between the ghost and the bold stripes on the designed paper.
  • Spooky Fun and Sweet Home.  The paper is fun, and the placement of the sentiment is fun, but let’s be honest – the sweet ghost steals the show on this card, right?  The ghost is pulled from my Sweet Home photopolymer stamp set.  You may have seen the adorable 3-D houses from this set all over the catalog and internet – if you haven’t, you should Google search them because they are adorable.  While this card doesn’t feature a house, it does feature a small element from this bundle.  If you want to see more, check out Stampin’ Up!’s video that showcases this great bundle:

  • Halloween Street.  The base of this front panel features a gorgeous, striped piece of Halloween Street Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I love the balance of colors and simplicity of the design.  The pack of papers is filled with some great pages, including two pages of gorgeous, silver-embossed images.  The designs are cute (and some are creepy) – a perfect starting point for a card, don’t you think?Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!

  3. Cute card today. The repeated sentiment on the diagonal is a great touch. Will try it in a card soon. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. SU has the greatest Halloween sets this year. All of them can be both cute and scary. I really love the way you put the Happy Halloween saying on the diagonal across the top of the DSP! Of course, fall colors are my favorite so I am a little prejudiced that way. Fab card by a fab designer. Thanks for sharing Brian.

I love all of the dies ,etc. SU has in the catalogs ! I have another list growing for an order . That is why I like seeing what everybody is using and how they use it that I did not think of ….like your mentioning looking at the various things in the little house sets . I will get a set of dies or stamps just for one thing sometimes !
