Happy Happenings for PPA322

My friend Susan Itell is hosting this week’s sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts this week.  True to Susan’s clean-and-classy style, the layout of her challenge is simple and fun – stripes and a big circle (you can really use any shape you want).  I immediately reached for one of the use-it-all-year-round pieces of paper from the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack to create a neutral thank you card.  Here’s my card:

PPA322Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Strips of Warmth & Cheer.  These four 1/2″ strips of printed paper are cropped from a page of stars in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack.  This paper is filled with colorful holiday prints, but there are some great prints that can be used throughout the year.  I particularly love this Crumb Cake and Basic Black page.  The stars are perfect for Christmas cards, birthday cards, congratulations cards and thank you cards.Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack, Stampin' Up!
  • Layering the Sentiment.  With my bands of starry paper in place, I wanted to make sure the sentiment was a standout.  For starters, this “thank you” is a favorite of mine – it’s all over my blog – because it’s GORGEOUS!  Casual, yet formal.  To make sure this great sentiment is appropriately highlighted, I layered it with Basic Black and Crumb Cake circles.  Here’s what I used (from the top layer to the bottom):
    • Whisper White – 1-3/4″ Circle punch
    • Basic Black – 1-7/8″ Layering Circle Framelits Dies
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Crumb Cake – 2-7/16″ Layering Circle Framelits Dies

  • Three Neutrals.  Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Whisper White are a beautiful combination – they can lend themselves to a masculine card or a soft, beautiful card.  While I kept my project to these three colors, you could totally change the look of these colors by simply adding one color.  Can you imagine how different this would be with a pop of Melon Mambo or a dash of Pumpkin Pie?  Even an ounce of Dapper Denim would be quite striking.  If you like this combination of colors, feel free to save this (and make a note to add one more color):Stampin' Up! CAS cards are always my favorite! I sometimes have to stop myself from adding too much to a card instead of letting the card just speak for itself as yours does today. As always, magnificent job!
