HOORAY with Festive Birthday

I love Christmas cards, winter cards and cards with falling leaves.  I love spooky cards and cards with beautiful, warm textures.  It’s the perfect time of year for those cards.  Let’s not forget, though, that birthday cards and kudos cards still need to be made – and Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog has all the goods for those cards.  I used Confetti Celebration and Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper to make this bright, and cheery card:

  • Festive Birthday.  I adore the bright and cheery pages in the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper.  The combination of colors and the super-fun patters (filled with saguaros, guitars and flowers).  All of the pages are perfect for birthday cards, but some can be used for other bright-and-cheery projects.  I love this page with gorgeous, colorful stripes – I placed the square on an angle and trimmed the edges to create a fun look on the front of this card.

GOOD NEWS!  This paper is one of the papers that’s included in Stampin’ Up!’s Buy-Three-Get-One-Free Promotion (offer good through the end of October).  Don’t miss out on this great deal – check out all the options here:B3G1DSP_DemoHeader_NA

  • Border Patrol.  I love repetition on a card – whether it’s the repetition of a color, a shape or the size of a border, there’s something appealing about the familiarity of items on a card.  A collection of like-things belong together and feel good.  The off-set, striped paper has bold lines at a harsh angle.  The circular sentiment is a great offset to the patterned paper on the card.  It’s the border around the sentiment, though, that repeats the width of the Melon Mambo border on the outside of the card.  Little secret:  The circle came first – I cropped the Whisper White piece to create a Melon Mambo border that mimics the border around the circle.
  • Color Combination.  How many times do I need to say that I love the bright and cheery colors in this paper before you say, “Stop!  Brian, we get it.  You like these colors!”  While we’ve seen the combination of Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry in previous papers (remember It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack from this year’s Occasions Catalog?), I would have never put these two colors together without being led there by Stampin’ Up!’s designers.  The two clash and yet embrace each other beautifully.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
