From My Heart to Yours for GDP059

I don’t have a large variety animal and pet stamps – no puppy or kitty sets – but I have wanted to showcase this fun birdcage from the Badges & Banners bundle for quite some time.  This week’s Animals/Pets Theme at Global Design Project was my perfect excuse to put this fun cage on stage.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP059Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Badges & Banners Bundle.  Stampin’ Up! designed the Badges & Banners stamp set to coordinate with the Best Badges punch.  What a pair!  While three of the images in the set can be used to make a perfect badge, Stampin’ Up! designers were working overtime to creatively flip the badge upside down to make a birdcage.  How adorable is that?!  The set also coordinates with the 1-3/8″ Circle and Duet Banner punches.  Here’s a look a the stamp set:  Badges & Banners Bundle, Stampin' Up!And here’s a look at three other cards I’ve shared with this bundle (you can click on the photos to see the original post for each):Badges & Banners, Mixed Borders, Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA309My Hero, Stampin' Up!, by Jackie BeersBadges & Banners, Best Badge Punch, Writing Notes, Kinda Eclectic, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP308
  • Paper Piecing the Cage.  The fun page of Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate dots is from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack sets the mood for this card (I pulled my color scheme from this page).  In addition, I layered a tiny piece of this spotted paper into the base of the bird cage – you might not have noticed it earlier if you were overwhelmed by my skills that allowed me to pull this card together.  Might that be the case?  🙂  I simply stamped the birdcage on the spotted page and snipped out the piece I wanted to layer inside the stamped image.  The repetition of the paper adds to the overall feel of the card. • Mystery Set?  I used three stamp sets on this card.  We’ve already talked about the Badges & Banners set that was used to create the birdcage.  The “from my heart to yours” sentiment comes from Better Than Email, a fun photopolymer stamp set that all stampers should own.  The set was offered as a non-catalog set for a while in the U.S. and was officially added to the Annual Catalog earlier this year.  BUT…what about the third set?  My birdcage is hooked to a chain so that it’s not just floating in the middle of the air.  Do you recognize it?  I’m not even going to give you time to guess – I’m just going to tell you – the “chain” is from Mixed Borders stamp set. See it – right there in the middle of the set?  Of course it ‘s not designed to be a birdcage chain, but it certainly can be.  This is one of my excuses for why you need to just get all the stamp sets – you never know how one of them might come in handy.  🙂
