A Sweet-and-Simple Christmas Card

I love sweet-and-simple cards.  If the white space on a card is appropriately honored, it can be powerful and beautiful.  This simple card has six layers of cardstock (including the little die-cut tree), but the overall feel of the card couldn’t be more simple.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sweet Sentiment.  “May the simple joys of the season be yours.”  A perfect saying for a simple card, right?  Could this sweet sentiment from Christmas Pines photopolymer stamp set be sweeter?  I love the sentiment and the gorgeous mix of fonts.  I even adore the size of the sentiment – it’s large enough to play an important part on a card (like the one above) but not too big to overwhelm a project.  Even if you don’t plan to create projects with pine branches (and why wouldn’t you want pine branches on everything this season?), you’ll want to grab up the amazing sentiments in this set.

  • A Simple Cutout.  Ever since I started playing with Adventure Awaits bundle this past summer, I’ve known I’d be using one of the sweet trees for a Christmas card.  I didn’t know, at that time, that the tree would have a similar shape to the trees in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper.  When I made that connection, I had to make the card!

I’ve made two other cards with this bundle of dies.  You see them HERE and HERE.

  • An Earthy Christmas Colors.  The combinations of colors in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack are perfect for this time of year (except that it’s still in the 80’s in Atlanta).  The page of trees I selected only features Crumb Cake and Basic Black.  I added a Garden Green tree to the front, so I framed my layers with Garden Green, too.  If you like this combination, feel free to save this for inspiration:Stampin' Up! 3. So cute ! I love this Adventure Awaits set and I have not gotten it yet . I like that you found other options in using it other than camping cards.
That tree is the sweetest !

  4. What a great card Brian. Easy to replicate and great for those like myself who are in panic mode about Christmas cards. I won’t be casing this one but it has inspired a bunch of ideas in my head and for that I am very grateful. Kind of like you gave me a kick in the head instead of the butt to get me moving in the right direction. Thank you kindly my friend. LOL

  5. LOVE this card Brian. Looks like Maine!

  6. You have a special way with sweet and simple. Love how you took the busy DSP and simplified it down with your layers. Always a challenge for me.
