Proud of You for GDP066

This week’s sketch challenge for The Global Design Project is sweet and simple – a great start for a fun card.  I added a few layers to my card (are you totally falling off your chair?) such that the sketch is found in the center panel.  All good!  I used bright and cheery colors to create a congratulations card.  Here’s my card for the GDP066 sketch:

  • A Festive Combination.  The spattering of spots and stars that are found beneath my sentiment are a combination of two colors of ink and two stamp sets.  The spattering (is it OK for me to call it a spattering?) was first stamped with Crushed Curry.  I used a great, intricate design from Touches of Texture – just one stamping of the image gave me the basis for my spattering.

After my foundation was established, I added some Bermuda Bay stars with the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set.  While the cluster of stars is quite small, it’s relatively easy to create a random-looking pattern by flipping the stamp over and sideways when stamping the images side-by-side.  This stamp set has been a go-to stamp for me for quite some time.

  • Crazy About You.  Another go-to stamp set for me is Crazy About You.  This is one of the few stamp sets that’s offered in either red rubber (clear-mount or wood-mount) and photopolymer.  I snatched it up as a photopolymer – makes it so easy to build the sentiments in almost any order you wish.  There are so many great words in this set – I combined “so proud of” with “you”.  When I realized that was too long to fit on the card front, I re-stamped the words and masked out “so”.  It doesn’t seem like the removal of “so” would give me lots of extra space, but it worked!  🙂
  • Bright Color Combination.  As I was creating Grab Bags for customers this past week (I’m running this promotion throughout December), I had cut up some leftover Flashback Designer Series Paper.  This was one of my all-time favorite packs of paper, and I got all reminiscent of the Real Red, Crushed Curry and Pool Party combination I loved so much.  I guess you could say I was having a “flashback” to Flashback.  I used Bermuda Bay here put kept the bright red and rich yellow.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
