Winter Wishes for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not just those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group!  I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you.  I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

Starlight Thinlits Dies

My card for our Winter Wishes Blog Hop features a delicate image cropped from the Starlight Framelits Dies.  This image could work as either a star or a delicate snowflake, but my card design didn’t start there.  In fact, this was one of the last elements I added to the card.  This design started with the background piece of This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• This Christmas.  We were first introduced to This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper with the release of the Annual Catalog.  If you are like me, then you might have missed a key detail about the new pack of paper – what makes is special.  Like Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (from the last two years), This Christmas is printed on lightweight paper – similar to a newspaper print.  It’s really cool!  As such, you get 4 sheets of 6 designs in the pack – that’s 24 sheets of Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Very Vanilla prints.  So versatile!  When all the new paper appeared in the Holiday Catalog, this amazing paper was almost forgotten.  Please let this be a friendly reminder.  🙂
  

  This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Up!

• Let there be Layers!  You might already know this about me – I’m a huge fan of layers that create beautiful frames around panels on a card front.  While this card has a simple layout and simple message, there are technically eight layers on this card front (if you count the snowflake as a layer since it pops over the white of the banner…).  I love the effect of dry embossing, although I don’t always use my embossing folders like I should.  The layer of Whisper White beneath the green panel is embossed with the Gently Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  While the effect doesn’t pop off the page, it adds a lovely texture that evokes a cool feeling.  
• Color Combination.  During last year’s Christmas season, I loved pairing Mellow Moss with Pool Party and Soft Sky.  The deep green just looks so wonderful with a pale blue.  As I was contemplating this piece of fun Garden Green paper from This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper, I wondered why I hadn’t paired Garden Green with the pale blues.  It’s so striking!  If you like this combination, too, please save this:
