Christmas has come and gone. No rest for the weary, though. It’s about time to start cranking out fun and festive projects for Valentine’s Day. Yippee! Today, I’m sharing a fun Valentine’s Day idea with the Nailed It stamp set and coordinating Build It Framelits Dies – a Father’s Day-themed bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog. I thought the cute saw and the fun sentiment would make for a perfect Valentine’s Day card. I hope you agree. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Nailed It! I adore the new bundle. While the hammer, saw, wrench and screwdriver and wonderful for a masculine card, they are also playful and fun. The fun sentiments make the tools versatility outside of a masculine or Father’s Day project. “Nailed it” and “Sorry I screwed up” make the set perfect for your closest female friend, too. 🙂 If that isn’t enough, though, check out the tiny faces that can be stamped onto the tools to give them a clever, fun appeal. Take a look at this bundle that will be available starting January 4.
- The Measure of Things. The panels of cardstock in the center of this card are each 1-3/4″ wide and 5″ tall. That means that the panel in the center of the card (the combination of the two) is not perfectly matted in the middle of my card base. The center piece is taller than it is wide. That’s OK, right? Every fiber of my being wanted to trim some off the top of the panels so that they fit perfectly in the middle of the card, but I fought the urge. Nice to switch things up every once in a while, right? The little banner is 3/4″ tall and spans most of the card base (I snipped it to balance everything else on the card. I added a shiny enamel heart (Island Indigo) to further pair the hearts on the left panel with the color of the right panel.
- Masculine Color Combination with Color. You’ve heard me say it 100 times – cards for men don’t have to be void of color. I love how Old Olive pulls the greens out of Island Indigo – such a great pairing of two of my favorite colors. Add a Smoky Slate saw and some sweet Smoky Slate hearts on this panel of A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, and you’ve got the foundation for a great color combination. Cutest card I ever “saw!” Love the simplicity!
Clever with cuteness !!! Love this Bundle and it is on the Wish List ! It is so so different that I would like having it on hand .
Your card colors are perfect . Think I will try this combo on a couple of cards I want to make !
Great card Brian!
Mary beat me to the punch! Well, you hammered it without throwing a wrench into the works! My dad “wood” have loved this set and the cards I could make as he had his own heating and A/C business and built out house. His motto – measure twice and cut once but it never hurt to measure three times to be sure you had the measurement right at least twice!
Brian, you are sooo darn creative….thanks so much for the wonderful idea.
Love this card and the colors are great!
Yep, you did!!
Totally a fun card!
