Paper-Piecing with Beautiful You for GDP069

I’ve reached for Suite Sayings so many times over the past year (it first debuted in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog).  I love these beautiful sentiment and the fonts used to create them.  A while back, I shared that “Success looks good on you” was the only sentiment I hadn’t used, and I set a goal to finally ink it up.  Today’s the day!  The gold-silver combination at Global Design Project (the gold is really Delightful Dijon) screams “success!” to me, so the sentiment was a perfect fit.  Here’s my card:

GDP069Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Paper-Piecing with Beautiful You.  Paper-piecing is an easy way to use scraps of paper to give scraps of paper a starring role on a projects.  How does paper-piercing work?  It’s simple.  I stamped this stylish woman from Beautiful You on a piece of Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and again on this panel of Whisper White.  I snipped her image from the Delightful Dijon piece of Serene Scenery and then glued it on top of the one in Whisper White.  How easy is that?  Paper-piecing is best with images that are designed with chunky lines or sketchy lines because those stamped images are easiest to snip.Beautiful You, Suite Sayings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP069
  • Did you Know?  The silver panel in the background of this card comes from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Because the Neutral Color Family is two colors shy of the other color families (because of Whisper White and Very Vanilla).  To make it up to us, Stampin’ Up! added pages of Silver and Gold.  They aren’t foil pages, but they have a shimmer to them.  What a great bonus for a stack of papers that are already an essential in your crafting arsenal.

  • Gold, Blue, Silver.  At some point over the past several months, I began a crazy love affair with Delightful Dijon.  The Holiday Catalog introduced me to my passion for this deep, rich yellow that contains a lot of gold and a touch of brown.  The gold side of Delightful Dijon comes in handy for this week’s Global Design Project color challenge because it’s paired with Silver and a Free Choice color.  While there are so many great options for a rich, regal project, I couldn’t be happier than with how well Island Indigo plays with the other two.  If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
