A Stampin’ Up! Rainbow with Up & Away Thinlits

I mostly find myself in a good mood, but I was in a particularly bright-and-cheery mood when I sat down to make the card I’m sharing with you today.  Bright colors, sweet sentiment and a playful balloon- what’s not to love about that?  Here’s my card:

Lift Me Up, Up & Away Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Thin, White Lines.  White really pops against bright and dark colors.  I love to showcase Stampin’ Up! colors, so it makes sense that I use a lot of white.  I adore thin, white borders around colorful panels on a card – and you already know how much I love to use my White Stampin’ Embossing powder.  With the huge splash of color on this card, it makes sense, then, that highlighted it with a white border, a white sentiment and a detailed outline of a hot aire balloon.

  • Stampin’ Up! Rainbow.  While I often times pull from multiple color families to create a rainbow of colors (Crushed Curry or Perfect Plum from the Regals are perfectly good replacements for Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry), every single one of the rainbow colors on this card come from the Brights Collection.  How easy is that!? • Layers.  The colorful layers on this card were so easy to create.  I cut scrap pieces of cardstock in at 1″ and carefully taped them all together (the tape is on the back of the panel – it’s much less ugly there).  That gave me the 6 panels for my six-colored rainbow (I combined Indigo and Violet into one).  OH WAIT!  Since I can only fit five 1″ panels on the front of a card, I hit a roadblock.  UNTIL…I realized I could add my Blue as a Banner.  Eureka!  Not, they are all there – and in order.  🙂
