A Sweet Sympathy Card with Remarkable You

Stampin’ Up! has so many great images to create artistic blobs in the center of a card (Gorgeous Grunge, Touches of Texture and Awesomely Artistic are built with amazing images that create fun backgrounds.  For this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I created my own “blob” with an oldy-but-goody technique that I love.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Remarkable You – It’s Remarkable!  Remarkable You is a carryover stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2015 Annual Catalog, and it’s one of my all-time favorite stamp sets.  While the set is at a slightly higher price point than many other sets (the images are really large [and wonderful], and the set is only offered in red rubber), but it’s worth the investment.  I’ve used all of the images and all of the sentiments – this set has been a go-to for me since I bought it when it was released.  It’s fun for watercoloring (if you like that kind of thing) or paper snipping (if you like that kind of thing) or just creating a beautiful, simple background on a card (you MUST like that kind of thing).  Even in clear-mount, this set gets you half-way to a free Sale-a-Bration item.  That’s a good thing!  🙂

  • Sponging the Circle.  When I set out to make this card, I realized it had been a while since I last made a card showcasing this technique.  As I tabbed through my old posts, looking for that card, I tabbed a lot longer than I expected.  The last card with this simple technique was almost THREE years ago – in March of 2014.  I also made a video that I’m happy to share here – it’s one of my first videos and showcases some retired products and colors (do you remember Strawberry Slush and Midnight Muse?).  You’ll still get all the information you need, I’m sure.  🙂  If you want to see the original post, you can click here.

  • Soft and Sweet.  I adore yellow-and-gray combinations.  All shades of these two colors work well together, but the pairing of So Saffron and Smoky Slate is so soft and sweet.  The thin border of So Saffron around the Whisper White panel on this card frames the focal trio perfectly.  I added the sentiment in Basic Black for a touch of needed boldness on the card.  If you like this combination and want to give it a try, please save this:Stampin' Up!
