Affectionately Yours for CTS212

This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge gave me a great opportunity to make a bright-and-happy, sunshiny, feel-good card.  I used Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper to create a beautiful base and pulled in all the colors for a sweet-and-simple card.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for this week’s super-fun sketch challenge that inspired my card:

CTS212Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Affectionately Yours.  This card is built around two bright-and-cheery patterns from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper – the Night of Navy piece with colorful flowers and the Cucumber Crush and Crumb Cake piece used behind.  All of the colors I used are pulled directly from these pages, including the Watermelon Wonder band that extends across the Night of Navy panel.  All of the pages in this pack of papers are wonderful.

Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper is just one of the packs of Designer Series Paper featured in my Spring 2017 Product Shares.  The colors and patterns are perfect for all of your Spring-themed projects.  To learn more about my Spring 2017 Product Shares, please click here.

  • Color Blocking.  For all intents and purposes, this card is a showcase of “color blocking” – pairing bold panels of colors in opposite ends of the color spectrum.  Red, blue and yellow are all primary colors on the spectrum that are opposite one another.  The bold panels are fresh and modern, and the colors are perfectly paired.
  • Artistic License.  You can definitely see the CAS(E) This Sketch layout in my card, but I didn’t use my entire card to showcase the fun sketch.  Instead, the sketch is featured in the central square of the card.  I kept snipped away at the base until it was a 3″ x 3″ square.  I really liked how it turned out – I needed the square to balance the pieces the way I wanted to them balanced.
