Suite Sayings & A Pop of Pink for GDP082

So many things to be thankful for this past week.  I kicked off last week with a blog hop to honor Autism Awareness month – and many of you generously donated.  Thank you!  I shared three of the new In Colors and some suggested combinations for each.  I ended the week with an incredible trip to Savannah to Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage Local event – where WE SAW STAMPIN’ UP!’S 2017-2018 ANNUAL CATALOG!  We also got to play with a lot of the new products and walked away with quite a bundle of products, too.  I can tell you this much – it’s UNBELIEVABLE.  The most exciting, though, was spending time with many of my team members at the event.  I love my InKing Royals!  I’ll be sharing much more with you throughout the week – and not all posts will go-live at normal time.  Be on the lookout – and subscribe to my blog if you don’t want to miss anything (there’s a signup link in the right sidebar).

This week’s Global Design Project challenge gives us a super-simple sketch – I used my favorite “thanks for being you” sentiment from Suite Sayings to make this card:Suite Sayings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP082, thank you cards

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Special Thank You.  This card was designed as a special thank you for some amazing, special friends.  Last week, I participated in an Blog Hop to raise money and awareness for Autism Speaks (you can see that post here).  Not only did I meet my fundraising goal, but I surpassed it.  I was so happy with all the support this cause received and made some special cards for my special friends.  I’ll be getting these thank you’s in the mail this week.  If you’d like to make a donation, I’ll be happy to make more of these cards – there’s lots of information on the original post (and great inspiration from amazing artists along the hop).
  • Gold Foil & Pairing White.  I used Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper to make the most prominent panels on this card – even though Melon Mambo doesn’t make an appearance.  The two white panels with foil accents are from the specialty paper.  The white is so stark on these pages that Whisper White cardstock almost looks gray next to it.  Quick fix – I used the back side of the page with sprinkles to stamp the sentiment and crop it with the 2″ Circle Punch.  As such, the whites are perfectly paired.  I accented this Pop Of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper with Gold Foil for an additional pop of gold.
  • Other Colors.  Gold pairs so well with Bermuda Bay, but I wanted to switch things up a bit between cards – so many wonderful thank yous to offer.  As such, I made cards with Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Emerald Envy.  Each one of these looked wonderful with sparkly gold foil.  Which is your favorite?Suite Sayings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP082, thank you cards

Adjust Your Seatbelt – This Week is Going to be a Fun Ride.  After this past weekend’s OnStage (where Stampin’ Up! released its 2017-2018 Annual Catalog to demonstrators), I can tell you there’s a lot of information headed your way this week.  Please subscribe to my blog (in the right sidebar) so that you don’t miss out on anything.  Not only will I be sharing the retiring list with you (the list of items Stampin’ Up! will soon discontinue manufacturing to make room for all the new products in the new catalog), but I’ll also begin sharing new projects from the amazing, new catalog.  There are also a couple of great blog hops peppered in for fun.  Be on the lookout!  I don’t want you to miss out on anything.

  8. How wonderful that you are going to make these amazingly beautiful cards for all your donors. I do that also for my American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Awareness fund raising. It takes a lot of time but it’s good to let people know you appreciate their support. So glad to hear you surpassed your goal and I’m crossing my fingers I can do the same this year. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of Autism and I’m sure your contributions will make a tremendous difference in finding a viable treatment for this horrible disease.

  9. Such beautiful cards! I love that you made a rainbow of color options… Bermuda Bay is my favorite though. (I have a heavy bias toward anything in the teal family.) Thanks for all the inspiration!
