Lemon Zest for GDP090

On Friday and Saturday, I shared My Favorite Things from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog.  If you missed either of those posts, you can see them HERE and HERE.  The new Lemon Zest Bundle made the list as one of my favorite bundles – the Lemon Zest stamp set is filled with some great citrus and sentiments, while the coordinating Lemon Builder Punch adds a great bonus.  Since my bundle arrived in the mail on Friday, I had to use it for this week’s Global Design Project sketch.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Lemon Zest Bundle.  What a versatile stamp set!  While some sets only offer great images and some sets only offer great sentiments, Lemon Zest offers both!  I used the two lemon images on my card – one as the focal point of the card, and one to set the mood on the background panel.  Not only are the lemons/limes/citruses super-fun and trendy, but the sentiments that accompany the images are great for a variety of occasions.  They are perfect for a pick-me-up or a sweet Valentine or a general note.  Have you taken a moment to read through the combinations of sentiments?  Here’s a peek at the Lemon Zest bundle:

  • Sheltering Tree to the rescue.  I needed a little texture behind my lemons, but I wanted something abstract and fun.  I didn’t want to create a branch because I knew I couldn’t make it look like a lemon tree branch  I stamped my background with Pear Pizzazz so my lemons would pop, but that looked too much like I intended it to be the leaves or branch, so I scrapped that panel and stamped a new one – the image, after all, is a bunch of leaves from a tree.  To distance myself from the leaves, I stamped the image in Calypso Coral (stamped off lightly once before stamping here).  It adds a nice, little pop of color, don’t you think?
  • Fresh and Sweet.  The crisp, fresh colors on this card are sort of a sweet take on a traffic light – versions of yellow, green and red.  IN reality, these colors are all citrus-like and fresh.  I needed something to wake up the yellow and green a bit, and Calypso Coral really fit the bill as a nice accent.  If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! Great card, I love it. Your color selection works so well with the idea of lemons as does the sentiment (which I should make into home decor) which rings so true. All in all just an awesome job Brian.
