2017-2019 In Colors for FabFri

I’ve created a super-simple and easy-to-replicate card for this week’s FabFriday color challenge – a challenge that showcases Stampin’ Up!’s 2017-2019 In Colors – Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide.  While these colors are each AMAZING, they weren’t necessarily designed to all coordinate with each other.  As such, I combined a small amount of each of the five colors on this fun card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Simple Layout.  This card layout couldn’t be simpler, could it?  A panel, a band and a circle.  It’s the most basic of layouts, don’t you think?  What makes it special (in my mind’s eye) is the size of the focal panel – it’s smaller than I’d usually expect – and the tiny, modern stripes that make up the band.  The large expanse of Crumb Cake on the base of the card are repeated with the circle in the middle, making the band of colors even more special.  It allows the colors to pop – as they should.  🙂
  • Quick Strips Tips.  I made a handful of this card.  Rather than cutting a bunch of small strips and gluing them down one-by-one, I glued them down to a long strip of Whisper White cardstock and then cut the paper vertically with a guillotine cutter to create multiple panels for the multiple cards.  Here is a graphic depiction of this tip:2017-2019 In Colors, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • The 2017-2019 In Colors.  How amazing are these new colors?!  I’ve shared several posts about these colors – you can see those posts here and here and here and here.  What a great collection!  We will have lots of fun with these colors over the next two years.  In my newsletter next week, I’ll be sharing some fun color pairings for one of these colors – if you don’t want to miss this bonus content, please make sure you sign up to receive my newsletter.  You can sign up for my newsletter here.Stampin' Up! 2017-2019 In Colors, Brian King

  6. Hi Brian:

Love it! I haven’t had a chance to play with the new colors yet but hoping to get to it this weekend. Maybe the in colors weren’t meant to coordinate but you certainly showed that they can. Also, thanks so much for the tip on making the multi-colored panel. Everyone laughed at me for saving all those “shavings” but they won’t be laughing now. LOL Ahhhhh, revenge of the frugal!!!!!!

  7. YES YES ! That pairing of putting Tranquil Tide next to Fresh Fig made all these colors blend !! I am liking the strips TIP !! This card is a great CASE model to switch and swap the card base color or sentiment !
