A Little Wild for CTS227

Before I share today’s card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I want to give a big, hearty thank you to the design team over there.  I was over-the-top with excitement to see that my Sorry for Everything card from last week was named the winner.  What a thrill!  CLICK HERE to see the other selections.  CLICK HERE to see my writeup for that card.  I’m glad for the opportunity to play along with the inspirtaion, but it’s always sweet to be selected by that team.  Thanks, CAS(E) This Sketch team!

The moment I saw this week’s clean-and-simple, I knew the little bear from A Little Wild would be hanging out on the edge of my card.  What a fun sketch, and what a fun bundle!  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Little Wild Bundle.  Tell me this little bear is not adorable – you can’t because it is.  I think these little tags are so inventive!  What a fun new product – a super-cute tag for any gift.  While the images show the front and back of each of the three animals, you can showcase EITHER side on the front of a card and pair it with a fun sentiment.  The options are endless.  That’s why the A Little Wild Bundle was named one of my favorite bundles from Stampin’ Up!’s new catalog (you can see my other choices HERE and HERE).  Here’s a look a this new bundle:

I cropped the bear with the two-lion dies but snipped a wee bit of the top of his head and earn to make him one.  Here’s a fun video from Stampin’ Up! that showcases this new product:

  • Layers.  With such a small, adorable bear and bees (both were cropped out with coordinating dies), I knew I needed to keep a smaller-than-usual panel for the center of my card.  The center panel is 1-1/14″ shorter in length and width than the base of the card, measuring 3″ x 4-1/4″ with a Basic Black border that’s just 1/8″ longer and wider than the panel.  So sweet!  The bees helped me to fill the panel upward and the sentiment (tucked in the lower, left corner) helped me to balance the card a bit.  A Little Wild, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS227
  • Colors.  I don’t often reach for Very Vanilla – I love it, but I mostly go for the crisp Whisper White.  With a Crumb Cake bear and tiny So Saffron bees, though, I knew I wanted to continue the parade of warm colors with a big panel of Very Vanilla.  If you like this color combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! With such a simple card, how adorable is this set?!  I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
